This invention intends to provide an aperture grill supporting frame whereby forces exerted by damper wires on individual thin tapes constituting an aperture grill are uniform. This object is achieved by the following: the surfaces for welding of upper and lower frames of an aperture grill supporting frame are so processed from the beginning as to have sizes compensatory for deformations occurring as a result of pressurization and thus they will form a part of a columnar wall surface with a radius of R when they subject to deformations in the presence of a pressure. Thus, the surfaces for welding at both ends, for example, take a slightly bulged form as compared with a sector of a radius of R before they are subject to welding.

Aperture grill supporting frame and manufacturing method thereof

A cathode ray tube apparatus can accurately, easily and automatically correct influences exerted on both of a beam landing drift and an image distortion drift by terrestrial magnetism applied to a cathode ray tube (CRT). A correction current based on an output of a terrestrial magnetism sensor (45) is supplied to a Z-axis correction coil (41) and an X--X axis correction coil (42). A terrestrial magnetism component (B.sub.H cos.theta.) of Z-axis direction is canceled by a correction magnetic flux generated by the Z-axis correction coil (41), and a terrestrial magnetism component (B.sub.H sin.theta.) of X-axis direction is canceled by the X--X axis correction coil (42), whereby a beam landing drift and a image distortion drift are corrected automatically.

A method of fixing a color screening structure for a color picture tube to the faceplate of the color picture tube, comprising steps of mounting the color screening structure on the faceplate with the through holes formed in first, second and third supporting spring plates attached respectively to a lateral side frame and opposite side frames respectively receiving first, second and third metallic pins attached respectively to three sides of the faceplate, welding the first supporting spring plate to the first metallic pin at a plurality of weld points in a predetermined welding sequence by laser welding, and alternately welding the second and third supporting spring plates respectively to the second and third metallic pins at a plurality of weld points in a predetermined welding sequence by laser welding.
