An image recording apparatus includes an image recording unit which records a first image data, and a second image data which is recorded in a first recording medium in a second recording medium; an instruction unit which gives an instruction regarding writing start positions of the first image data and the second image data in the second recording medium; and a recording ending control unit which performs a control so that recording of the second image data is ended when a recording position of the first image data and a recording position of the second image data in the second recording medium match with each other.

A pre-record data storage device includes: a first recorder; a second recorder having a capacity larger than that of the first recorder; a face comparison processor that executes a face comparison process on a person's face detected from an image obtained by photographing the person; and a recording controller. The recording controller allows the first recorder to start pre-recording of the image of the person from a face detection time when the person's face is detected, and to finish the pre-recording at a matched time when matching is confirmed as a result of the face comparison process of the face comparison processor. The recording controller stores pre-recorded data from the face detection time to the matched time in the second recorder.

A video recording method includes: detecting an intrusion of a person into a predetermined monitoring area based on the video information from the monitoring camera; recording the intrusion time when the intrusion of the person into the monitoring area is detected; detecting a left-behind object after the person has passed through the monitoring area based on the video information from the monitoring camera; generating alarm information in response to the detection of the left-behind object; overwriting so as to record the video information by every given amount of information until the alarm information is received. In a monitoring system, a plurality of monitoring devices for performing a sequence operation of sequentially switching images output from a plurality of cameras are connected. Each of the monitoring devices includes: an address information collection unit configured to collect address information of other cascaded monitoring devices when the sequence operation of an own device is started; a storage unit configured to store the address information collected by the address information collection unit; and a command transmission unit configured to determine a next address from the address information stored in the storage unit and to transmit a command for starting the sequence operation to one of the other monitoring devices which has the determined next address when the sequence operation of the own device is terminated.

An object of the invention is to provide an image record apparatus and an image record method that can improve the use efficiency of a record medium for recording a video image from a camera. A NW control section () acquires the image quality and the resolution set in a camera () performing pre-record and calculates the maximum image size that can be transmitted by the camera (), and a file system () calculates the number of images from the preset pre-record rate and pre-record time and reserves an area corresponding to the maximum image size of one pre-record image calculated by the NW control section () in an HDD (). The NW control section () records a pre-record image transmitted from the camera () in the area reserved by the file system (). When it records as many pre-record images as the number of pre-record images, it returns to the beginning of the area reserved by the file system () and continues recording a pre-record image is continued. When an alarm occurs while a pre-record image is recorded, the NW control sectiondetermines that the pre-record image at the point in time is pre-record data.
