A sliding-bearing material having enhanced seizure resistance and fatigue resistance. The sliding-bearing material comprises an aluminum bearing alloy whose surface has been treated and a coating layer formed on the aluminum bearing alloy and consisting of from 90 to 55% by weight of a sold lubricant and from 10 to 45% by weight of a polyimide binder. Treatment of the aluminum bearing alloy can be by roughening with alkali etching and pickling, by covering with a chemical conversion film, and/or by drilling.

Sliding-Bearing Material

The Cu-based sintered sliding materials contain: 1-10% of graphite, MoS.sub.2 and/or WS.sub.2 ; 1-30% of hard matter selected from (a) and (b); and, 0.1-15% of Sn. The sliding materials have improved seizure resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The hard matter:

A die cast, heat treated shaped aluminum silicon alloy article consisting essentially of, based on an alloy weight, from 13 to 25 wt % silicon, from 2 to 6 wt % copper, up to 1 wt % magnesium, balance aluminum, said heat treated alloy being formed by the process comprising: subjecting said alloy while in molten condition to a primary pressure die casting at a casting pressure of from about 450 to about 500 kg/cm.sup.2 to form a primary pressure die cast product; removing the primary casting pressure from said primary pressure die cast product; prior to the time said aluminum silicon alloy completely solidifies, subjecting said primary pressure die cast alloy to a secondary pressure die casting so as to reduce the volume thereof from about 1.5% to about 3%; heating the thus treated product to a temperature of from about 460.degree. C. to about 520.degree. C. for a period of time of from about 2 to about 10 hours; and rapidly quenching said product to produce said article. The process used to produce the article as also claimed as is the combination of the article in sliding contact with another material having a hardness HV of at least 50.

Soldering material essentially consists of 20-50% of Pb, 0.5-less than 1% of Sb, 0.1-5% of In, and balance of Sn. Such material is suitable to solder electronic parts exposed to temperature variation and mechanical vibration.

A swash plate type compressor is provided with a compressor shoe having a sliding contact surface for making sliding contact with a swash plate. The sliding contact surface is formed with a central hole. A crest portion is formed between the hole and the outer periphery of the shoe, and smooth surface portions connect the crest portion with the hole and the outer periphery, the crest portion being located substantially at or inwardly of a radially middle point of the sliding contact surface between the hole and the outer periphery.

Swash plate type compressor shoe

A swash plate type compressor having shoes provided with center holes on the slidable surfaces. The center hole provided with a bottom acts as a reservoir for lubricating oil and supplys the oil on the slidable surface of the shoe, which slides against the swash plate. There can be a second ring groove concentric to the center hole, or annexed grooves which are stretching outward radially from the center hole. The center hole also prevents the center part from protruding outward by thermal expansion, which is caused by friction. The slidable surface of the shoe is preferably coated with a layer containing solid lubricant so as to smooth the sliding motions.

Sliding member and process for producing the same

A bearing material which is excellent in seizure resistance, wear resistance and conformability. The bearing material is prepared by sintering, on a backing steel sheet, a powder mixture consisting of Cu-Pb base alloy powder or its constituent metal powders and 1 to 30 wt. % of one or more members of hard material powders. The hard material powders mean the powders of Mo, Co, Fe.sub.3 P, Fe.sub.2 P, self-fusing alloys, FeB, Fe.sub.2 B, Fe-Cr, Fe-Mn, Fe-Si, Cr, W; SiC and other carbides, TiN and other nitrides, and SiO.sub.2 and other oxides. The bearing material of the present invention is characterized in that it has excellent sliding characteristics especially relative to the materials having rough surfaces.

Bearing material

Shoes for operatively connecting a swash-plate with the compression pistons of a swash-plate type compressor are made from a novel Cu-based alloy. Improved shoes are characterized by a combination of high heat conductivity and excellent wear resistance properties particularly when subjected to a lubricating condition so severe that no lubricating oil is supplied to the surface of the shoes at the initial period of the compressor operation. At least three alloying elements are selected from Mn, Si, Pb, Sn, the IVb and VIb groups of the periodic table, and added in predetermined amounts to the Cu-based alloy, so that the properties mentioned above are simultaneously obtained. The compressor according to the present invention can be reliably employed, without the occurrence of seizure over a long operational period for air-conditioning vehicles, in which the sliding condition of the shoes is drastically varied with the rotation of the engine.

Swash-plate-type compressor for air-conditioning vehicles

The invention relates to aluminum-tin (Al-Sn) base bearing alloys and bearing materials that are made by applying the alloys to backing steel sheets by pressure welding. The Al-Sn base bearing alloy comprises 3 to 25 wt.% of Sn; 0.1 to 1.0 wt.% of Cr; 9 wt.% or less in total of one or more members of Pb, Bi, In and Cd; and the remainder of Al. The alloy can further contain 3 wt.% or less in total of Cu and/or Mg, thereby improving the bearing characteristics. Besides the effects of the addition of Cr to improve hardness, to avoid the lowering of high temperature hardness and the growth of tin particles, and the resultant improvement in fatigue resistance, the Al-Sn base bearing alloy of the invention is improved in conformability and seizure resistance by the addition of Pb, In and the like which are effective when they are used together with Cr.

Shoes for operatively connecting a swash-plate with the compression pistons of a swash-plate type compressor are made from a novel Cu-based alloy. Phosphorus and elements of C group (Pb and/or Sn), as well as elements of A group (Mn and Si) and/or B group (the IVb and VIb groups of the periodic table), are added in predetermined amounts to the Cu-based alloy, so that the properties mentioned above are simultaneously obtained. The compressor according to the present invention can be reliably employed, without the occurrence of seizure over a long operational period for air-conditioning vehicles, in which the sliding condition of the shoes is drastically varied with the rotation of the engine.

An aluminum-base bearing alloy and a bearing material which is made by applying the bearing alloy to a backing steel by pressure welding. The aluminum-base bearing alloy is characterized in that the lowering of the hardness thereof under high temperature conditions is quite small so that the fatigue strength of the bearing alloy is quite high. The aluminum base bearing alloy comprises 10-30 wt.% of tin, 0.1-1.0 wt.% of chromium or zirconium, and the remainder of aluminum. The bearing alloy of the invention can further contain 0.2-2.0 wt.% of copper or both 0.2-2.0 wt.% of copper and 0.1-0.5 wt.% of beryllium so as to improve its properties. Especially, the aluminum-base bearing alloy containing chromium has the advantage that the tin particles contained in the alloy are prevented from becoming coarse in an annealing step or at elevated temperatures corresponding to the annealing condition. Accordingly, the lowering of the hardness under high temperature conditions can effectively be prevented, and as the result, the fatigue strength can effectively be maintained.
