A coaxial cable connector comprises a signal contact member having an inner conductor connecting portion, a grounding contact member, and an insulating housing for supporting the signal contact member and the grounding contact member in a condition of mutual isolation, wherein the insulating housing is provided with first and second holes opposite to each other across the inner conductor connecting portion of the signal contact member with which an inner conductor of a coaxial cable is in contact, the first hole is operative to allow an ultrasonic vibration horn to be put into the first hole for contacting with the inner conductor of the coaxial cable and applying ultrasonic vibrations to the same and the second hole is operative to allow an anvil to be put into the second hole for coming into contact with the inner conductor connecting portion of the signal contact member.

Coaxial cable connector and method of use thereof

A coaxial cable connector comprises a signal contact member having an inner conductor connecting portion, a grounding contact member, and an insulating housing for supporting the signal contact member and the grounding contact member in a condition of mutual isolation, wherein the insulating housing is provided with a concavity which has a bottom on which the inner conductor connecting portion of the signal contact member is placed and an opening through which the inner conductor of the coaxial cable is caused to come into contact with the inner conductor connecting portion of the signal contact member placed on the bottom of the concavity and is operative to allow an ultrasonic vibration horn to be put into the concavity through the opening of the concavity for applying ultrasonic vibrations to the inner conductor of the coaxial cable put in contact with the inner conductor connecting portion of the signal contact member.

Occurrence of defective electrical connection caused by dust that has entered the interior through a corresponding insertion hole can be prevented well by a simple configuration. A through hole facing a corresponding insertion hole is formed to penetrate through a movable contact attached to an insulating housing, and two corresponding connector contact pieces are disposed respectively in both sides sandwiching the through hole. Thus, the dust that has entered the interior through the corresponding insertion hole opened when a corresponding connector is not mated is configured to be discharged through the through hole without accumulating the dust on the movable contact to reduce the risk that the electrical conductivity between the movable contact and the fixed contact may be disturbed by the dust.

A cable connecting apparatus comprises a plug type connector having a connectively engaging portion provided with a plurality of plug contacts which are arranged on each of first and second opposite surfaces of the connectively engaging portion to be connected with cables and a receptacle type connector having a housing on which an opening through which the connectively engaging portion of the plug type connector is inserted is formed at an end portion of the housing and a plurality of receptacle contacts arranged in the housing, wherein each of the receptacle contacts is provided with a pair of contacting points for coming into press-contact with the plug contact respectively on both sides of the first and second surfaces of the connectively engaging portion of the plug type connector and a distance from the end portion of the housing to one of the contacting points is different from a distance from the end portion of the housing to the other of the contacting points.

An electrical coaxial connector comprising a body made of insulator to be put on a circuit board, a signal-joining contacting conductor held by the body, and a grounding contacting conductor formed into a cylindrical shape and held also by the body for surrounding the signal-joining contacting conductor on the circuit board, wherein the grounding contacting conductor has an arm portion extending toward the circuit board from one of ring-shaped ends of the grounding contacting conductor, which is more distant from the circuit board than the other, a grounding terminal portion is formed at an end of the arm portion to be soldered to a ground-potential terminal provided on the circuit board, and each of the grounding contacting conductor and the arm portion is resilient.

Such a configuration is achieved that shell connecting portion which is a contact portion of conductive shells of first and second connectors fitted to each other in a direction approximately perpendicular to multipolar arrangement is disposed opposite to a terminal connecting portion which is a contact portion of conductive terminals, so that contact pressure at the shell connecting portion is caused to function on the terminal connecting portion to improve electric contact performance of the terminal connecting portion, and the conductive shells are disposed approximately along the conductive terminals to improve a function for shielding electromagnetic waves generated based upon electric signals flowing in the conductive terminals. By adopting such a configuration, even if an electric connector is lowered in height and downsized, contact reliability of the conductive terminals is maintained well, so that improvement of properties of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electrostatic discharge (ESD) can be achieved.

A cable connector comprises a housing, a signal conductive contact having a first transformable portion for holding a core conductor of a coaxial cable in a condition of caulking connection, a ground conductive contact having a second transformable portion for holding an outer conductor of the coaxial cable in a condition of caulking connection, and a cover member for engaging with the housing to cover the first transformable portion of the signal conductive contact and the second transformable portion of the ground conductive contact and operating to transform the first transforming portion of the signal conductive contact so as to hold the core conductor of the coaxial cable in the condition of caulking connection and to transform also the second transforming portion of the ground conductive contact so as to hold the outer conductor of the coaxial cable in the condition of caulking connection.

Disclosed is an improved card bus connector whose insulating housing has bifurcate contact pieces and a shield plate fixed thereto. The leads of the bifurcate contact pieces and shield plate are connected to selected conductors of an associated printed circuit. The insulating housing has a contact-support mold press-fitted in its rear opening. The contact-support mold has the contact-to-lead transitions of the female contact pieces embedded therein. Each bifurcate contact piece has a stem offset from its center longitudinal contact line.

A compatible CF card adapter (1) permits a thick or thin CF card (7) to be nested therewith. The CF card adapter includes pin contacts (4a) projecting from a housing (4b) for mating with the female contacts of the CF card. The CF card adapter has a slidable contact cover (4f) spring-biased to enclose the pin contacts (4a). The contact cover (4f) is responsive to insertion of the CF card for yieldingly withdrawing to expose the pin contacts (4a) behind, thereby permitting the pin contacts (4a) to be mated with the receptacle terminals of the CF card.
