A paper-made staple binds a sheet bundle subjected to folding processing by a folding blade and a folding roller. The paper-made staple includes a pair of leg portions inserted into the sheet bundle and then bent inward; and a connection portion that connects the leg portions in a staple longitudinal direction. The connection portion has, at an edge portion thereof, a cut in a direction crossing the longitudinal direction so as to correspond to a predetermined folding position of the sheet bundle for the purpose of facilitating the folding of the connection portion, and the cut is formed inward from the edge portion so as to have a substantially triangular shape and is provided on both edge portions of the connection portion of the paper-made staple.

Imaging-system bookbinding apparatus avoids cutting any folded sheets mixed into booklets it trims. Furnished with: an imaging unit; a sheet-folding unit that folds imaging-unit sheets; a stacking unit that stacks sheets from the sheet-folding or image-forming units; a cover-sheet binding unit that encases stacking-unit sheet bundles with, and binds them into, cover sheets; a trimming unit that trims true the bundle fore-edge; and a fold-position computing unit that determines where a sheet is pleated by the sheet-folding unit. The sheet-folding unit has a sheet conveyance path along which folded sheets are transported elsewhere than the stacking unit, while the fold-position computing unit in a first control mode transports to the stacking unit sheets folded over by the sheet-folding unit, and in a second control mode transports them from the sheet conveyance path elsewhere than the stacking unit.

A sheet post-processing device includes a placement unit for placing a sheet discharged from an image forming apparatus; a discharging unit for successively discharging the sheet on the placement unit; and an offset unit for shifting an edge of a stitching sheet from an edge of a non-stitching sheet on the placement unit by a predetermined distance depending on whether the sheet discharged on the placement unit is subjected to a stitching process. A stitching unit stitches only the edge portions of the stitching sheets in a stack in a state that the edges of the stitching sheets are shifted from the edge of the non-stitching sheet by the offset unit.
