A gas sampling bag is capable of blowing out the gas uniformly into the bag main body, and filling the bag main body with gas in a securely mixed state. A gas sampling bag that is connected to a constant volume sampling passage, contains a pipe, on which a plurality of gas inlet/outlet holes are formed, in a bag main body, and allows the gas to flow into/out of the bag main body through the gas inlet/outlet holes. The opening of the plurality of gas inlet/outlet holes is formed in such a manner that the size is minimized while the pressure loss is suppressed so as not to increase as far as possible.

In an evaporative emission-control system having a canister for trapping a fuel-vapor evaporated from the fuel tank and a purge control valve for executing a purging, an amount of fuel-vapor trapped in the canister is measured while the engine is stopped or in an idle state. The trapped fuel-vapor is purged from the canister and mixed with an air-fuel mixture when the amount of fuel-vapor trapped in the canister is sufficient for diagnosis while the vehicle is running in a predetermined driving condition. In this purge operation, a concentration of a vapor-laden air from the canister is measured and the occurrence of an abnormal state of the evaporative emission-control system is determined when a change of the concentration of the vapor-laden air after the purging is less than a predetermined value.

A system for measuring particulate discharge from a vehicular internal combustion engine has a dilution tunnel into which exhaust gases are introduced and mixed with and diluted by clean air. A part of the diluted gases is introduced through a sampling probe into a sampled gas line in which a filter is provided to collect particulates contained in the sampled gases. A differential pressure transducer is provided to detect the pressure drop across the filter and convert the detected pressure drop into an electric signal which is fed into an operator which is operative to compute the quantity of particulate content of the engine exhaust gases on the basis of the time differential of the electric signal from the differential pressure transducer.
