A compatible disk device includes: a base; a first turntable disposed on the base for transmitting a rotational force to a first disk; a second turntable for transmitting a rotational force to a second disk; a retaining arm for retaining the second turntable with a play; a support shaft disposed on the base in a position separated from either the first disk supported by the first turntable or the second disk supported by the second turntable; and a sub-base attached pivotally to the support shaft, the sub-base supporting the retaining arm to be rotatable in a plane parallel to a disk surface of the first disk or the second disk and to be elevated in an axial direction of the support shaft.

Compatible disk device

A print head restraint mechanism for limiting movement of a print head during transport of the printing apparatus is provided. The restraint mechanism includes a moveable pin that selectively engages the print head. An engaging mechanism moves the pin into and out of engagement with the print head when the print head is positioned in a restraint position. During printing the restraint mechanism is positioned away from the travel path of the print head to avoid interfering with print head motion. An interlock prevents actuation of the restraint mechanism when the print head is away from the restraint position.

A thermal printer includes a memory for storing a correction for cancelling variations in a paper feed caused by a previously determined uneven paper feed, a first calculator for calculating an uneven paper feed in each of the lines to be printed, a second calculator for calculating a correction corresponding to the uneven paper feed calculated by the first calculator; and a control for controlling the paper feed in each of the lines according to the correction calculated by the second calculator.

Thermal printer with means for reducing color shifts

A thermal printer includes a platen roller on which a recording sheet is wound in such a manner that the recording sheet is laid over a part of the cylindrical wall of the platen roller. A thermal head is pushed against the platen roller to heat heating points selected for transferring ink from an ink sheet onto the recording sheet. A sheet pulling means pulls the recording sheet in a predetermined direction. A pinch roller on the sheet supplying side pushes the recording sheet against the platen roller with a predetermined force of depression so that the recording sheet is wound on the platen roller. A pinch roller rotating means is provided at at least one end of the pinch roller for rotating the pinch roller at a peripheral speed lower than that of the platen roller.

Thermal printer with anti-slip sheet conveying mechanism

A tray assembly for a full color thermal transfer type printer is disclosed. The printing mechanism of the printer including a roller platen moves the sheet of printing paper under printing several times forward and backward to effect a full color printing. The tray assembly comprises a discharge tray at the top, a paper guide formed integrally thereunder, and a manual feed tray detachably attached to the underside of the paper guide. The paper guide form an extension of the return paper passage of the printer into which the sheet of paper enters when it is moved backward. The tray assembly further comprises a pair of plate-shaped adapters detachably attached to the interior sides of the side walls of the manual feed tray; thus, the interior side surfaces of the adapters determine, when attached to the manual feed tray, the lateral position of the sheet of paper fed into the printer from the manual feed tray. When the manual feed tray is used without the adapters, the interior side surfaces of the side walls of the manual feed tray determine the lateral position of a manually fed sheet of paper.

A thermal transcription printer has a thermal head (8), a platen (9), a pair of pinch rollers (10), (11) disposed on both sides of the platen and a gearing apparatus consisting of gears (31), (32) and (33) and oneway clutches (29) and (30) and the gearing apparatus over-drives or reduces the rotation speed of the pinch rollers (10) and (11) and coupling of the oneway clutches and the gears is selected for making peripheral velocity of a pinch roller at a forward position against the paper conveyance faster than that at a backward position.

Thermal transcription printer

A thermal transcription printer has a thermal head (8), a platen (9), a pair of pinch rollers (10), (11) disposed on both side of the platen and a pressure control device, consisting of cams (35), sliding blocks (31) and springs (32), (33) and (36) and the cams controls pressing force of a pinch roller disposed backward of paper conveying direction smaller than that disposed forward for making the paper sheet (3) closely adhere to the platen (9).

A thermal transfer printer employs a relatively small diameter platen roller 20 flanked by a pair of sprockets 3c which support endless timing belts 2. A clamp 7' for gripping the leading edge of a sheet 6 to be printed is mounted laterally across and between the belts. The attendantly small radius of curvature of the roller at the printing station prevents any contact by components and structure mounted to the reciprocable printing head 1.
