An aspect of the present invention relates to a magnetic recording medium comprising on one surface of a nonmagnetic support a nonmagnetic layer containing a nonmagnetic powder and a binder and a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder and a binder in this order, as well as comprising a backcoat layer on the other surface of the nonmagnetic support. The nonmagnetic layer is a radiation-cured layer formed by curing with radiation a given radiation-curable composition, and the backcoat layer comprises filler particles with an average primary particle diameter, D50, ranging from 0.05 to 1.0 &#x3bc;m, the filler particles being selected from the group consisting of organic polymer particles and inorganic colloidal particles.

Magnetic recording medium

A high refraction film, an anti-reflection film, a protective film for polarizing plate, a polarizing plate and an image display device excellent in weathering resistance are provided. The high refraction film comprises inorganic fine particles having an average particle diameter of from 1 to 200 nm comprising titanium dioxide as a main component and has a refractive index of from 1.55 to 2.40. The anti-reflection film comprises a transparent support and a high refraction film formed thereon. The polarizing plate comprises a polarizing film and two protective films having said polarizing film interposed therebetween, wherein an anti-reflection film is used as at least one of the two protective films or wherein an anti-reflection film is used as one protective film and an optically compensated film having optical isomerism is used as another protective sheet. The image display device has a structure comprising an anti-reflection film or a polarizing plate disposed on the image display surface thereof.

An anti-reflection film containing a high-refractive-index layer having a refractive index of 1.65 to 2.40 and a low-refractive-index layer having a refractive index of 1.20 to 1.55, wherein the high-refractive-index layer is formed by coating and hardening a coating solution composition that contains inorganic fine particles having an average particle size of 1 to 200 nm and being dispersed with a polymer having a crosslinkable group. A method of producing the anti-reflection film and an image display device provided with the anti-reflection film.

There is disclosed an anti-reflection film comprising 5-65% by volume of inorganic fine particles having an average particle size of 1-200 nm and having a core/shell structure, and 35-95% by volume of a polymer, wherein a high-refractive-index layer having a refractive index of 1.65-2.40 and a low-refractive-index layer having a refractive index of 1.30-1.55 are laminated. There is also disclosed a polarizing plate and image display device utilizing the anti-reflection film. The anti-reflection film is suitable for mass production.

An anti-reflection film comprises a high refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.65-2.40, and a low refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.20-1.55. Another anti-reflection film comprises only a low refractive index layer having a refractive index of 1.20-1.55. In the invention, the first improvement resides in a high refractive index layer composed of inorganic fine particles having a mean particle size of 1-200 nm in an amount of 5-65 vol. % and a crosslinked anionic polymer in an amount of 35 to 95 vol. %. The second improvement resides in a low refractive index layer composed of inorganic fine particles having a mean particle size of 0.5-200 nm in an amount of 50-95 wt. % and a polymer in an amount of 5-50 wt. %, and two or more of those particles are piled up to form micro voidsby the adjacent particles.
