A drowsiness detection device includes, an imaging unit, a PERCLOS calculation unit, a drowsiness detection unit, and a threshold value setting unit. The PERCLOS calculation unit calculates, based on an image imaged by a camera, a PERCLOS that is a time period ratio during which a driver closes the eye within a certain time period. The drowsiness detection unit detects drowsiness of the driver when the PERCLOS is equal to or larger than a threshold value. When an initial PERCLOS first calculated from a start of driving is less than a %, the threshold value setting unit sets the threshold value to be smaller than in a case that the initial PERCLOS is equal to or larger than a %.

The present invention ascertains an action schedule of an automatic driving system when a host vehicle is travelling in an automatic driving mode, and uses an indirect weak expression to convey the action schedule to a driver, at an action schedule presentation start location (P) which has more leeway with respect to a scheduled action location (P) (steps S, S). An in-vehicle system is mountable on a vehicle having an automated driving function for automatically controlling at least one of steering and a vehicle speed of the vehicle. The in-vehicle system includes: an information presentation unit configured to present information related to automated driving to a driver of the vehicle; and a call management unit connectable to a mobile terminal capable of wireless communication. Until a lapse of a prescribed time from switching to a manual drive mode, a special judgment criterion for judging whether to generate an attention-arousing event is employed so that an attention-arousing event is generated more frequently than in an ordinary state and information is presented to a driver in a different expression form than in the ordinary situation. Since after occurrence of a handover the frequency of arousing attention of the driver is increased and attention of the driver is aroused in a different form, the driver realizes the switching to the manual drive mode soon and hence mode confusion can be avoided. Arousing attention of the driver is started earlier than in the ordinary situation by changing the judgment criterion for judging whether to generate an attention-arousing event.

A drive assisting apparatus includes a running state detection unit which detects a running state of a vehicle, a manipulation detection unit which detects a drive manipulation of a driver on the vehicle, a line-of-sight direction detection unit which detects a line-of-sight direction of the driver, a pattern storage unit which is stored in advance with data indicating combinations of a vehicle running state and a driver drive manipulation and a driver line-of-sight direction pattern, and a warning signal output unit. The warning signal output unit outputs a warning signal if a combination of the running direction detected by the running state detection unit, the drive manipulation detected by the manipulation detection unit, and the line-of-sight direction detected by the line-of-sight direction detection unit is different from any of the combinations of the data stored in the pattern storage unit.
