A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has a wheel hub integrally formed with a peripheral wheel mounting flange at one end and a double row rolling bearing. The double row rolling bearing has an outer member integrally formed with a peripheral body mounting flange and with double row outer raceway surfaces. An inner member, including the wheel hub, is formed with double row inner raceway surfaces each arranged opposite to each of the double row outer surfaces. Double row rolling elements are freely rotatably contained between the double row outer and inner raceway surfaces. The double row rolling bearing is adapted to receive a predetermined preload. A separate outer or inner ring is arranged on at least one of the outer or inner members. A preload varying mechanism is arranged at an abutting portion between the outer and inner members to vary the preload applied to the bearing. The preload varying mechanism can be extended or contracted based on an output signal from a detecting sensor to detect the vehicle running conditions.

Bearing device for wheel

A motor-driven wheel driving apparatus has a wheel bearing, a planetary reduction gear, a driving section with an electric motor to drive the planetary reduction gear, and a rotation member. The wheel bearing includes a wheel hub, an inner ring, an outer member and double row rolling elements arranged between the inner and outer raceway surfaces. The planetary reduction gear includes an input element, a stationary element, a plurality of planetary, and an output element to rotatably support the planetary elements relative to a connecting shaft. The driving section forming the electric motor has a stator housing, a stator portion contained within the stator housing, and a rotor portion secured on the rotation member arranged opposite to the stator portion via a predetermined air gap. The connecting shaft is removably and torque-transmittably connected to the wheel hub. The connecting shaft is adapted to drive the wheel by transmitting the rotation of the electric motor to the wheel hub via the planetary reduction gear.

Motor-driven wheel driving apparatus

A rotation sensor assembly includes an encoder, mounted on one end of an inner member of a bearing, and a rotation sensor fitted to one end of an outer member of the bearing in face-to-face relation with the encoder. A cylindrical wall of a core metal of the encoder press-fitted onto the inner member has a cylindrical extension protruding axially outwardly from one end of the cylindrical wall. A displacement sensor assembly includes a pair of displacement sensors provided in face-to-face relation with the cylindrical extension and spaced equidistantly from each other in a circumferential direction. The rotation sensor is positioned between the displacement sensors in the circumferential direction.

A sensor-integrated wheel support bearing assembly for rotatably supporting a vehicle wheel relative to a vehicle body structure has an outer member having an inner peripheral surface formed with a plurality of raceway surfaces, an inner member having an outer peripheral surface formed with raceway surfaces in alignment with the raceway surfaces in the outer member, a plurality of rows of rolling elements interposed between the raceway surfaces in the outer member and the raceway surfaces in the inner member, respectively, and a load sensor. The load sensor is disposed in one of the outer and inner members, which forms a stationary member. The outer member has an outer periphery formed with a vehicle body fitting flange. The load sensor for detecting a load acting on the vehicle wheel by detection of a load acting on the vehicle body fitting flange is disposed in the vehicle body fitting flange.

Sensor-integrated wheel support bearing assembly

To provide a torque detecting device having a sufficient mechanical strength, capable of accomplishing an accurate torque measurement, having a processability excellent for mass-production, and effective to eliminate problems associated with damages which would be brought about during a heat treatment. This torque detecting device includes a target area subject to torque detection () provided in a surface region of a torque transmitting shaft () made of a steel material; a detecting coil () provided in a non-contact fashion in face-to-face relation to an outer periphery of the target area subject to torque detection (); and a detection signal processing circuit (). The target area subject to torque detection () is a layer of magnetostrictive material comprised of an Al diffusion layer. This diffusion layer contains Al diffused in a steel material in a concentration which gradually decreases from the surface in a direction radially inwardly of the torque transmitting shaft ().

Torque-detecting device

A piston rod position detecting mechanism is proposed which can detect continuously or in a multiple-point manner that the piston rod position has changed due to increase or decrease in the protruding amount of the piston rod due to aging. The protruding amount from a cylinder end wall is detected by a position detecting mechanism comprising a detecting coil housed in a bobbin provided at the cylinder end, a flange portion formed on the piston rod, and a coil spring. Also, an autotensioner and an electromagnetic valve with such a position detector are proposed. Further, a belt tension adjusting device is provided with a detector for detecting the position of a tension pulley which is pivotable with increase or decrease in the belt tension.

The magnetic encoder () includes first and second to-be-detected elements (A) and (B) each having a plurality of equally spaced, opposite magnetic poles defined therein so as to alternate with each other in a direction circumferentially thereof. The first to-be-detected element also has a magnetic characteristic disturbing element () provided at a predetermined site on a circumference of the magnetic encoder () for agitating a periodicity of the opposite magnetic poles. The two magnetic sensors (A) and (B) for detecting the first to-be-detected element (A) are spaced in a circumferential direction a distance greater than a circumferentially extending width of the disturbing element (), and are so positioned as to be held in substantially phase-matched relation with a cycle of repetition of the opposite magnetic poles.

Bearing assembly equipped with rotation sensor to determine rotation and position of rotating element

A bearing with a rotational sensor has a magnetic sensor includes a race including an inner ring and an outer ring. Between the inner ring and the outer ring, a magnetic sensor holding member having an annular portion is arranged. The annular portion of the magnetic sensor holding member is provided with a holding portion holding the magnetic sensor.
