A rotational sensor of a motor includes a sensor magnet and a sensing element. The sensor magnet is secured to a driving-side rotator of a clutch, which is connected to a rotatable shaft of the motor, to rotate integrally therewith. The sensing element measures a rotational speed of the sensor magnet. Furthermore, the sensing element is secured to a motor case in such a manner that the sensing element opposes the sensor magnet.

A yoke housing that receives an armature has a plurality of permanent magnets (primary magnetic poles) secured to an inner peripheral surface of the yoke housing. Furthermore, the yoke housing includes a plurality of groove-like reduced thickness portions for increasing a magnetic resistance. Each reduced thickness portion extends along a center line of a corresponding one of the permanent magnets.

A rotatable shaft of a motor main body and a worm shaft of a speed reducing unit are drivingly coupled to each other by a clutch. Surrounding walls, which are arranged radially outward of the clutch to substantially entirely surround the clutch in an imaginary plane that extends substantially perpendicular to the axis of the worm shaft, are formed integrally with a gear housing. Thus, the surrounding walls restrain outward movement of grease, which is applied to predetermined portions of the clutch, so that effluence of the grease from the clutch is restrained.

A metallic receiving plate is located in a holding recess of a housing such that the plate opposes the distal end face of a worm shaft. The distal end of the receiving plate with respect to the rotating shaft defines a charging cavity in the holding recess. A resin material is charged into the charging cavity. A metallic ball is located between the distal end face of the worm shaft and the receiving plate. The ball makes point contact with the distal end face of the worm shaft and with the receiving plate. Two protrusions are formed on the receiving plate. The protrusions are embedded in the resin material to connect the receiving plate to the solidified resin material and to prevent the receiving plate from rotating. Thus, the rotational resistance of the worm shaft is reduced, and the durability of the bearing device is improved.

In a motor device for vehicles, a brush holder is interposed between a motor yoke housing and a reduction gear unit housing has a holder body and a connector unit integrally formed with each other. The connector unit holds therein connector terminals having base ends connected to brushes. A sealing cover is molded integrally on the holder body and the base ends of the connector terminals. The sealing cover seals insides of the yoke housing and the gear housing water-tightly from the outside. The sealing cover is preferably made of rubber, elastomer or adhesive resin, and formed with the brush holder by two-color molding. The sealing cover has a cylindrical cover part extending from the connector unit, and the motor device is mounted in a vehicle door with the cylindrical cover part being attached to the vehicle door for electrical connection with an external power source.

In a connection between a motor and a position detector that together constitute a motor actuator, a connection shaft of the position detector is engaged with an outer peripheral surface of a motor output shaft, and a shaft portion of the connection shaft is engaged with an inner peripheral surface of the motor output shaft. Furthermore, radial recesses are provided to be radially outwardly recessed from the inner peripheral surface of the motor output shaft, and one of radial recesses of the motor output shaft engages with a single radial projection of the shaft portion of the connection shaft. Thus, the motor output shaft and the connection shaft are non-rotatably connected with each other, readily accurately.

A clutch includes a stopper secured to a gear housing of a motor. Once the stopper is secured to the gear housing, the stopper restrains axial movement of rolling elements by restraining axial movement of a support member, which rotatably supports the rolling elements, to retain the rolling elements within a collar. A driven-side rotator of the clutch includes reinforcing ribs for reinforcing engaging projections of the driven-side rotator.

A position detector for a motor includes a pulse plate, having a fitting hole, for generating pulse signal, a connection shaft having protrusion portions and a washer having a connection hole. Each protrusion portion of the connection shaft is inserted into the fitting hole of the pulse plate and further inserted into the connection hole of the washer, and top ends of each protrusion portions are fastened to the washer. Thus, even if a rotational torque transmitted from the connection shaft to the pulse plate becomes large, the rotational force of the connection shaft can be accurately transmitted to prevent only the connection shaft from idling without releasing the connection between the connection shaft and the pulse plate.

Position detector for motor

A motor actuator has a position detector provided with a pulse plate made of resin and a sliding contact. The pulse plate has a first conductive unit and a second conductive unit. The sliding contact has an input contact and an output contact. The first conductive unit makes contact with the input contact and the second conductive unit makes contact with the output contact so that a pulse signal is obtained by rotation of the pulse plate. A plurality of slit portions are formed on the first conductive unit by exposing the resin material of the pulse plate so that grease is collected in a boundary portion of each of the slit portions due to a difference in thickness between the slit portions and a conductive portion of the first conductive unit. Therefore, even if the pulse plate continuously rotates and the first conductive unit and the input contact continuously make contact with each other, grease does not run out therebetween, thereby restricting the first conductive unit and the input contact from fusing at a high temperature. Thus, the motor actuator can maintain its original position detection performance.

For a position detector of a motor actuator, two types of flanges are provided. Each flange has a movable contact, on which fixed sliding contacts slide to detect a predetermined rotational position of a motor when the flange is driven by the motor. Either one of the flanges is used in the position detector depending on the combination of motor rotation directions (forward/reverse) and doors (left/right). Thus, a single cover plate which accommodates the flange may be used for both doors irrespective of the motor rotation direction.

There is provided a mobile member position detection apparatus in which not only high-accuracy detection of a window glass or the like of a power window apparatus but also setting of an initial position being free from cumbersome adjustment can be realized with a simple structure at low cost. In a position detection apparatus, a ring gear is rotated together with a motor output shaft, and a predetermined rotational position is detected by a mobile contact and a fixed contact. In this case, since a projecting portion of a gear base is brought into contact with a contact surface of a base plate to hold the gear base, a difference between loss torque of the gear base and loss torque of the ring gear increases, and a planetary gear is not unnecessarily revolved. Thereafter, when the output shaft is rotated, holding of the carrier by a wave washer is released, and rotation of the output shaft is not transmitted to the ring gear. Therefore, when the output shaft is sufficiently rotated in an incorporating operation, an initial state can be automatically set.

Mobile member position detection apparatus

A device for detecting a position of a moving body is provided in which a position of a moving body such as a window glass of a power window device can be detected with high accuracy, initial positions can be set without complicated adjustment, such can be realized with a simple structure and at a low cost, and assemblability can be greatly improved. In the device for detecting a position of a moving body, fixed contacts press-contact a flange portion of a ring gear from a side opposite a side at which a cover plate is disposed. Accordingly, the fixed contacts can be installed after the ring gear. In a state in which the ring gear is provisionally installed, press-contact force of the fixed contacts is not applied to the ring gear. As a result, the ring gear does not rise and positional deviation does not occur, and therefore, the assemblability can be greatly improved.

Device for detecting position of moving body

There is provided a mobile member position detection apparatus in which not only high-accuracy detection of a position of a window glass or the like of a power window apparatus but also setting of an initial position being free from cumbersome adjustment can be realized with a simple structure at low cost. In this position detection apparatus, a transmission plate and a cam plate are rotated together with the rotating shaft of a window regulator, and a limit switch is rendered conductive to detect a predetermined rotational position. Thereafter, when the rotating shaft is rotated, the intermeshing state between a tooth portion and a tooth portion obtained by a wave washer is released, and rotation of the rotating shaft is not transmitted to the cam plate. Therefore, when the rotating shaft (drive motor) is sufficiently rotated during an incorporating operation, an initial state wherein a projecting portion is brought into contact with a stopper to render the limit switch conductive is automatically set.

A position detecting device includes a ring gear that is disposed on an outer side of an output shaft of a motor and rotates with the rotation of the output shaft, fixed contact terminals fixed to a cover plate, and a rotary contact terminal provided on a ring gear. As the ring gear rotates, the fixed contact terminals and the rotary contact terminal are brought into contact with each other, thereby detecting a rotational position of the output shaft. The position detecting device further includes a clutch mechanism for preventing the rotation of the ring gear by more than a predetermined degree while permitting the rotation of the output shaft of the motor in the state of contact. Hence, even if the output shaft of the motor is rotated sufficiently, this state of contact is maintained.

Device for detecting the position of a moving member

In a position detector, a ring gear rotates with a motor output shaft and a specified rotation position is detected by a move contact and fixed contacts. When the output shaft rotates thereafter, holding a carrier by a wave washer is released and the transmission of rotation of the output shaft to the ring gear is dropped. Therefore, by rotating the output shaft sufficiently at the time of assembling, an initial state, in which a protrusion section abuts a protrusion and the move contact contacts the fixed contact, is set automatically.
