An image capture and transmission system includes first and second imaging devices. A timing signal generator produces a timing signal. A common drive circuit operates for driving the first and second imaging devices at equal timings determined by the timing signal. A first signal processor operates for converting an output signal of the first imaging device into first digital video data. A second signal processor operates for converting an output signal of the second imaging device into second digital video data. The first digital video data and the second digital video data are processed into a stream of packets. The packet stream is transmitted to, for example, a network.

Image capture and transmission system

According to the present invention, when an image data currently being received is switched over to the data from another image information device, the best picture quality is provided without stopping the image up to the next I frame even when the switching request is given at the middle of I frame. The apparatus of the invention comprises a clock processing unitfor generating a current time corrected according to an information of a time received from a system controllervia a network, a transmitting/receiving processing unitfor transmitting and receiving data and control signal to and from the network, a time designation processing unitfor setting the designation time received from the system controller via the network, and a designation time detection processing unitfor comparing the preset designation time with the current time, and when the designation time agrees with the current time, the received data is switched over, and the switching is synchronized with the next I frame.

According to the present invention, it is designed in such manner that a designation minimum unit for designating a position of an effective region of an image transmitted from a camera and a designation minimum unit for designating a size of the effective region are set independently from each other so that a restriction on one of them is not extended or applied to the other. Apart from designation minimum units (C, D) for determining the extent of an image region to be transmitted (effective region), designation minimum units (I, J) for determining position of the effective region are set to values irrelevant to the designation minimum units for determining the extent of the effective region. As a result, even when there is a restriction on the setting of one of the designation minimum units, i.e. either the designation minimum unit for designating the position of the effective region or the designation minimum unit for designating the size of the effective region, it can be set in such manner that the restriction applied to one of them is not extended or applied to the other.

Image transmission method and image transmission device for realizing the same

An image data transmission system reduces a delay resulting from compression processing of image data. The image data transmission system comprises cameras for compress encoding image data and transmitting compress-encoded image data, a decoder, a control device, monitors, and a LAN. Upon selection of a camera from the control device for control, the control device acquires information on capabilities of the cameras through the LAN. When a function which is affected by a delay due to the compress-encoding is used from among functions of the controlled camera, compress-encoding that reduces the delay is performed in the camera.

Frame switcher and method of switching, digital camera, and monitoring system

The two-way transmissions are performed between a first bus and a usual portal of a first full-duplex 3-portal bridge and between a second bus and a usual portal of a second full-duplex 3-portal bridge, respectively. The one-way transmission of an isochronous packet and an asynchronous stream packet is performed between transmission and reception portals of the first full-duplex 3-portal bridge and reception and transmission portals of the second full-duplex 3-portal bridge. The first full-duplex 3-portal bridge and the second full-duplex 3-portal bridge perform a conversion between the asynchronous stream packet and an asynchronous packet if necessary.

Network bus bridge and system

An information source sequentially outputs data, and outputs a timing signal related to the data. A packet generator produces a packet from the data outputted by the information source. A FIFO memory temporarily stores the packet produced by the packet generator, and outputs the packet. A first device operates for detecting a specified relative timing within a duration of the packet which is being inputted into the FIFO memory in response to the timing signal outputted by the information source. A second device operates for receiving the packet outputted by the FIFO memory, and transmitting the packet during a first nominal cycle after the first device detects the specified relative timing.
