A roll paper holder is provided which rotatably holds belt-like paper to be conveyed towards a printing section when a roll of paper is obtained by winding the paper on an upstream side in a conveyance direction with respect to the printing section. The roll paper holder includes a side wall section in contact with both side ends of the roll of paper in a width direction to prevent the roll of paper from moving in the width direction. The holder further includes at least one protrusion located outside a range where it can contact with the side end of the roll paper to be held having the largest diameter in the side wall section. The at least one protrusion is configured to protrude by a predetermined dimension from a portion contacting with the side end to control a position of the paper in the width direction.

A label printer includes a storage section which stores label papers where an adhesive layer is arranged opposite to a printing surface; a printing section; a cutting section which cuts the printed label papers sequentially from one end to an other end of a printed label paper in a width direction of the papers by vertically moving a movable blade towards a fixed blade; a stage which is arranged at the downstream side in the paper conveyance direction of the cutting section and receives a cut label; and a projection section which is arranged in an area of the stage corresponding to a part where the movable blade of the cutting section positioned at a lowest point is positioned lower than the stage, and projects from a top surface of the stage, where the area is one third of a width of the label paper.

A thermal printer unit according to the invention includes a thermal head, a platen roller which is disposed while facing the thermal head, a support member which fixes the thermal head while thermal transfer ribbon and receptor paper are pressurized and nipped between the thermal head and the platen roller, a conveyance mechanism which conveys the thermal transfer ribbon and the receptor paper using the thermal head and the platen roller, an engaging groove which prevents the thermal head from moving in a paper conveyance direction by the support member, and a retaining portion which prevents the thermal head from moving in a rotating direction, the movement of the thermal head in the rotating direction being generated according to rotation of the platen roller.
