A sheet straightening unit including a device for pushing a depressing roll against an endless belt, so that a curled sheet is straightened when passing between the endless belt and the depressing roll pushed against the latter. The depressing roll is provided with an amount-of-depression adjusting mechanism which includes a cam member and a cam follower member engaged with the former, in such a manner that the cam member is turned according to the kind and image density of the curled sheet, thereby to most suitably determine the extent to which depressing roll is pushed against the endless belt.

Sheet straightening device

A sheet distributing system including a sheet transfer unit, disposed within a housing, for transferring recorded sheets discharged from a sheet exit of an image recording unit to a sheet distribution stage, and a set of vertically arranged bin trays on one side of the housing and being moved toward the sheet distribution stage at the distributing timings of the recorded sheets, whereby the recorded sheets are distributed into the bin trays. The sheet distributing system further includes a post-processing unit located below or above the sheet transfer unit and disposed in a space, within the housing, which extends in the direction of the width of the sheet transfer unit, and a post-process control unit for causing the post-processing unit to successively apply a predetermined post-process to one side marginal portion of a stack of recorded sheets being contained in each of the bin trays at a post-processing stage different from the sheet distribution stage, when the sheet distributing operation has been completed. The post-processing unit may be a stapler or a puncher.

Sheet distributing system

An apparatus for connecting an image recording device having a sheet outlet opening with an external sheet processor having an inlet opening. The apparatus includes an intermediate transfer unit interposed between the image recording device and the external sheet processor, a sheet transfer path disposed in the transfer unit and extending between and connecting the outlet opening of the image recording device with the inlet opening of the external sheet processor, a purge tray disposed in the transfer unit, and a gating unit disposed in the transfer unit for diverting a sheet from the sheet path to the purge tray.
