A unit equivalent value acquiring unit acquires a normal-temperature unit equivalent use time &#x394;tn by using a temperature sensor, first to third LUTs, and a first multiplying unit. An integration unit acquires an equivalent cumulative use time to by integrating the normal-temperature unit equivalent use time &#x394;tn. A maximum value detecting unit detects a maximum equivalent cumulative use time tnmax. A touch panel system prevents an incorrect operation caused by an unintended contact of an object with a touch panel while suppressing a decline in sensitivity of detection of presence or absence of a touch on the touch panel. The touch panel system includes a touch invalidating section which, in a case where a specific point of a touch panel is continuously touched for a predetermined period of time, invalidates an instruction that is given, in accordance with the touch, to an electronic device including the touch panel.

In a display device () provided with pixel circuits including organic EL elements, a display control circuit () calculates a voltage drop amount VRI of a power line due to display for each frame on the basis of an integrated value for display data, and a tone voltage generation circuit () adjusts reference voltages for a tone voltage on the basis of the integrated value in order to compensate for the voltage drop amount VRI. As a result, it is possible to compensate for the voltage drop of the power line with accuracy without increasing power consumption and the wiring in the pixel circuits.

Display device

An organic EL display device includes a controller, a data driver, and a DRAM which provides a gain correction memory and a threshold voltage correction memory. The data driver sends, to the controller, first and second measurement data Im corresponding to the first and second measuring data voltages Vm, respectively. The controller compares ideal characteristic data IO(P) with the first and second measurement data Im, and updates threshold voltage correction data Vt and gain correction data BR based on the comparison results. The controller corrects video data Vm based on the threshold voltage correction data Vt and the gain correction data BR. Thereby, both threshold voltage compensation and gain compensation of a drive transistor are performed with respect to each pixel circuit, while display is performed.

Display device and method for driving the same

A coordinate input device of the present invention includes: an M-sequence generator (); a drive electrode driving circuit (); and a receiving electrode selecting circuit () which receives a value corresponding to a coupling capacitance, an inputted coordinate position being detected in accordance with the value received by the receiving electrode selecting circuit (), a receiving electrode group being divided into two blocks, and a first detecting section () and a second detecting section () being provided so as to correspond to the respective two blocks.

Provided is a touch panel system () capable of reliably removing a wide variety of noises. The touch panel system () includes a main sensor () which detects a touch operation, a sub sensor () which does not detect a touch operation but detects a noise component, and a subtracting section () which subtracts, from an output signal of the main sensor (), an output signal of the sub sensor (). The subtracting section () performs a subtracting operation to remove a noise component from the output signal of the main sensor (), thereby extracting a signal derived from the touch operation itself.

A mounting section () for a user to mount on his/her head includes an infrared light irradiation section () that irradiates an object to be detected () with a predetermined pattern of infrared light and an infrared light detection section () that detects the infrared light reflected by the object to be detected (). The infrared light irradiation section () and the infrared light detection section () are placed at a predetermined distance from each other. The three-dimensional coordinates of the object to be detected () are computed from a predetermined pattern of reflection from the object to be detected () as obtained by the infrared light detection section ().

Head-mounted display

A touch sensor panel disclosed herein includes: a plurality of vertical electrodes (); and a plurality of horizontal electrodes (), the plurality of vertical electrodes () and the plurality of horizontal electrodes () (i) being so disposed that, as viewed in the direction perpendicular to a substrate, the plurality of vertical electrodes () include no segment coincident with the plurality of horizontal electrodes () and (ii) forming a uniform grid having no gap.

A touch panel system () includes a capacitance value distribution detection circuit (). The capacitance value distribution detection circuit () switches a connection state between a first connection state and a second connection state, which first connection state makes first signal lines (HLto HLM) serve as drive lines (DLto DLM) and second signal lines (VLto VLM) serve as sense lines (SLto SLM), and which second connection state makes the second signal lines (VLto VLM) serve as the drive lines (DLto DLM) and the first signal lines (HLto HLM) serve as the sense lines (SLto SLM).

In order to simultaneously carry out, at a smaller sensor density, (i) detection of color information (recognition of a color) of visible light which enters a detection target surface and (ii) detection of an input position of the visible light, a liquid-crystal panel () included in a liquid-crystal display device of the present invention has an area sensor function of detecting color information and an input position of visible light by sensing an input image of the visible light on a panel surface. The liquid-crystal panel () (position detecting section) includes (i) a yellow sensor (Y) including a light sensor element () which senses an intensity of green light and red light from among three primary color lights and (ii) a cyan sensor (C) including a light sensor element () which senses an intensity of blue light and green light from among the three primary color lights. Sensing of the input image of the visible light on the panel surface by each of the yellow sensor (Y) and the cyan sensor (C) allows detection of the color information and the input position.

The touch sensor system includes: a touch panel having a two-dimensional region made up of a hand placing region and a remainder region; a hand placing region processing section for carrying out a process related to the hand placing region in accordance with a hand placing region touch signal corresponding to a touch to the hand placing region; and a drawing input processing section for carrying out a drawing input process in accordance with a remainder region touch signal corresponding to a touch to the remainder region.

A touch panel system includes a touch panel having sense lines, and drive lines which intersect the sense lines and form capacitance with the sense lines, a touch panel controller for processing signals of the sense lines, and a drive line driving circuit for driving the drive lines in parallel. The touch panel controller includes a subtracting section for finding differences in signals between the sense lines adjacent to each other, a decoding section for calculating a distribution of differences between the capacitances by calculating an inner product of code sequences for driving the drive lines in parallel and difference output sequences which correspond to the code sequences, a touch detecting section for obtaining touch information based on the distribution of differences between the capacitances calculated by the decoding section, and a region setting section for setting an effective region in the touch panel based on the touch information.

A touch panel includes: an infrared light transmitting material through which infrared light is transmitted and which has a surface as a touch surface () touched by a detection subject; area sensors () including photo sensor elements () below a touch region, which is touched by the detection subject, of the infrared light transmitting material; and infrared light sources () provided outside the touch region, the infrared light sources () emitting infrared light along said surface of the infrared light transmitting material such that an entire circumference of the detection subject touching the touch surface () is irradiated with the infrared light, the touch panel detecting a position touched by the detection subject so that the photo sensor element () receives, among infrared light emitted by the infrared light sources () along said surface, infrared light reflected by the detection subject and transmitted through the infrared light transmitting material.

Touch panel, liquid crystal panel, liquid crystal display device, and touch panel-integrated liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a liquid crystal panel () having an area sensor function of detecting the position of an input from an outside source by detecting an image on a panel surface. The liquid crystal panel () (position detecting section), provided with visible light sensors (A) each containing light sensor elements () that detect the intensity of received visible light and infrared light sensors (B) each containing light sensor elements () that detect the intensity of received infrared light, which detects an input position by the visible light sensors (A) and the infrared light sensors (B) separately detecting an image on the detector surface. The liquid crystal display device further includes a backlight (light-emitting section) for irradiating the liquid crystal panel () with light containing infrared light. This achieves an area sensor capable of accurate position detection in a wide range of environmental illuminances and a liquid crystal display device equipped with such an area sensor.

A liquid crystal display device () of the present invention includes: a liquid crystal panel () including: an active matrix substrate (); a counter substrate (); and a liquid crystal layer () provided between the active matrix substrate () and the counter substrate (); and a backlight () illuminating the liquid crystal panel. The liquid crystal display device () has an area sensor function for detecting an external input position, and further includes a reflectance changing section () that reduces a reflectance of light from the backlight () in response to application of pressure on a panel surface (). The reflectance changing section () is configured so that in a state where no pressure is applied on the panel surface (), an air layer () is formed between two elastic films (and) whereas in a state where pressure is applied on the panel surface (), the two elastic films (and) contact each other.
