According to one embodiment, there is provided a battery. The battery includes a metallic outer can, a wound electrode group, a positive electrode-lead, a negative electrode-lead, a positive electrode insulating cover, and a negative electrode insulating cover.

According to an embodiment, there is provided a battery system. The battery system includes a first battery and a second battery connected in parallel with the first battery. The first battery includes a lead storage battery. The second battery includes a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The negative electrode includes a negative-electrode-mixture layer, and the negative-electrode-mixture layer contains lithium titanate. The positive electrode contains a positive electrode active material LiMnM(a)O. A ratio of a battery capacity of the second battery to a battery capacity of the first battery is in a range of 1/133 to 1/2.

According to one embodiment, a battery includes an electrode group, a tab, a conductive nipping member, a case, a lid and a lead. The conductive nipping member includes first and second nipping sections. The first and second nipping sections divide the tab into two bundles in which portions of the tab are laminated onto each other in a thickness direction of the electrode group. The lead includes a connecting section connected electrically to a terminal, and current collecting sections which are two sections branched from the connecting section and sandwiching the nipping member.

According to one embodiment, there is provided a battery having a plurality of current collector tabs extended from a plurality of points of a current collector of at least one electrode of a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The battery further has a lid and a lead. The lead has a current collector tab junctional part connected with the current collector tabs, a lid junctional part fixed to the lid, and a vibration absorber part linking the current collector tab junctional part to the lid junctional part.

According to one embodiment, a battery includes an electrode group, at least one positive electrode current collector tab, at least one negative electrode current collector tab, and a case. The case includes a case portion and an edge portion. The edge portion includes a heat sealed part configured to seal the case portion and a non-sealed part. The electrode group is housed in the case portion while an end portion of at least one of the positive electrode current collector tab and the negative electrode current collector tab is provided in the non-sealed part.

According to one embodiment, a battery includes a package can, an electrode group, a lid and a plurality of homopolar external terminals. The electrode group is provided in the package can and comprises a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The lid is provided to an opening part of the package can. The plurality of homopolar external terminals are provided on the lid and electrically connected to the positive electrode or negative electrode.

In one embodiment, a battery includes an exterior can, an electrode group, a lid attached to an opening of the exterior can, and anode and cathode terminal portions arranged in the lid. At least one of the terminal portions includes an insulating gasket having a cylindrical portion, an external insulator having a pedestal portion, an external terminal including a head portion and the axial portion extended from the head portion, an electrode lead located in the exterior can and connected to the external terminal, and an internal insulator to isolate the lid and the electrode lead. The cylindrical portion of the external terminal is fixed to a through hole of the lid and an attachment hole of the electrode lead by a caulking. The insulating gasket is formed of a resin in which the melting point is higher than those of the internal insulator and the external insulator.
