Exemplary pressurization and coating systems, methods, and apparatuses are described herein. In certain embodiments, pressurization systems, methods, and apparatuses are used in conjunction with coating systems, methods, and apparatuses to control pressure about a substrate after a coating material is applied to a surface of the substrate. An exemplary system includes a die tool configured to apply a coating material to a substrate passing through the die tool and a pressurization apparatus attached to the die tool and forming a pressurization chamber. The pressurization apparatus is configured to receive the substrate from the die tool and control pressure about the substrate in the pressurization chamber. In certain embodiments, the die tool forms a coating chamber and is configured to apply the coating material on at least one surface of the substrate in the coating chamber. In other embodiments, the pressurization chamber further includes one or more sprayers which are configured to apply a coolant to one or more outer surfaces of the coated substrate.

Pressurization coating systems, methods, and apparatuses

Systems and methods for pivoting a blind slat by manipulating one or more tilt cords of a set of blind slats to achieve superior blind closure. More particularly, the present invention relates to a window covering having a blind slat that is rotated clockwise or counter-clockwise by rotating a driving mechanism that is positioned in a horizontal orientation. The present invention further relates to a window covering system that achieves tilting of blind slats without requiring the traditional tilting components of standard Venetian-type blinds.

Methods and systems of interior window framing

A coating apparatus and method are disclosed that applies a coating to a product in a uniform and controlled manner. The coating apparatus comprises a feeding stage, an optional pre-treatment stage, at least one coating stage and a finishing stage. The coating stage(s) comprise a coating material feeder and a coating device. The coating device includes an aperture conforming to the perimeter of a substrate to be coated in a first and second dimension. As the substrate passes through the aperture, coating material is applied in a uniform and consistent layer ranging from 0.001 inches to 0.250 inches. The coating material also back fills minor surface imperfections and blemishes on the substrate to achieve a consistent finish across the whole area where coating material is applied. The coating device includes first and second shell portions. The first shell portion has a concave surface surrounding the aperture portion. The concave surface allows for coating material to collect prior to deposition upon the surface of the substrate. The second shell has a substantially flat face and a mirror aperture that aligns with the aperture of the first shell. A groove is formed along the perimeter of the aperture to collect coating material for coating the object as it passes through the apertures of both shells.

Method and apparatus for extruding a coating upon a substrate surface

An aesthetically pleasing, slim profile window frame assembly that is capable of retaining a shutter. Specifically, the window frame assembly of the present invention comprises a core substrate coupled to a flange. Certain embodiments of the present invention comprise a core substrate having a thickness less than 5/16 inch and having, by volume, an elastic modulus greater than wood. A flange comprises a depth sufficient to retain a hinge attached to a window covering, such as a shutter. Certain embodiments of the present invention provide for a decorative covering to be coupled to the core substrate and/or flange such that a portion of the window frame assembly is thereby concealed. The improved strength per volume of the present invention facilitates shutter installation by a 'do-it-yourself' homeowner or handyman as well as by a skilled carpenter.

Window framing system with decorative overlay and method for using the same

A coating method is disclosed that applies a coating to a product in a uniform and controlled manner. The coating method comprises a feeding step, an optional pre-treatment step, at least one coating step, and a finishing step. The coating step(s) comprise the use of a coating material feeder and a coating device. During the coating step(s), a substrate passes through an aperture in the coating device which, includes first and second shell portions, where the first shell portion has a concave surface surrounding the aperture portion. Window shutter frame assembly and method for installation

A cellular window covering is made from multiple seamless tubular cells which are preferably extruded, cut to the desired length, stacked and glued together. The method can include extruding a plurality of tubular cells then stacking and bonding the cells together to form the fabric of the window covering. The extrusion step can include continuously extruding the tubular cell material and cutting the material at the desired length of the cells. Additional steps can include applying an adhesive to the outer surface of the cell after or sequentially with the extrusion and subsequently coating the outer surface with chopped fibers or powder after the adhesive is applied. The tubular cells can be extruded as single tubes or multiple tubes having internal ligaments which divide the extrusion into two or more connected tubular cells. Alternatively, each tubular cell can be formed from extruded half-cells which are joined together form the tubular cell. The outer surface of the tubular cells can be texturized by abrading or embossing. Additionally, fabric or thin sheets of veneer can be attached to all, or only part, of the outer surface of each tubular cell. The tubular cells can be bonded in a single row or there can be multiple rows of tubular cells bonded together to form double cell, triple cell or other configurations.

Cellular window covering having seamless cells and method for making same

An extruded product having a foam core is formed by blending powdered cellulose with a base resin and an oxidizer to yield a first mixture. The first mixture is compressed, heated and extruded to form a pelletized compound which is compressed and heated into a homogeneous extrudable mixture. Moisture is extracted from the powdered cellulose at one or more points during the process to achieve a moisture content of less than about two percent. A protective cladding is coaxially extruded around a core of the extrudable mixture to form an elongated product having a foam core at least partially enclosed by the protective cladding.

A horizontal window blind for virtually total blocking the passage of light has a plurality of slats formed from first and second portions parallel to each other. The portions are interconnected by a transition portion, and a flange portion is provided projecting at an obtuse angle from the second portion. At least one opening is made in the flange portion to pass a lifting cord therethrough. The slats are supported by horizontal cords which are attached to a set of vertical cords. A spacing between the horizontal cords is fixed to a distance which permits an outer edge of the first portion to cover the flange portion with the cord passage opening and at least a part of the second portion when the slats are tilted into the vertical position. Because of the shape of the slats and the relative positioning of the slats when tilted into the vertical position, the lifting cord does not find its way between the slats and light is fully blocked by the blind.

Blackout blind

A window covering comprises spaced collapsible cells secured to a pair of control cords which may be actuated to cause the cells to expand or contract their cross-sectional shape. In their collapsed and partially expanded conditions, the cells are spaced from each other to permit a variable amount of light to pass therebetween, while in their fully expanded condition the cells preferably contact and overlap each other to completely block passage of light therebetween. The cells can be arrayed in either vertical or horizontal orientations. Another embodiment employs flexible vanes in place of collapsible cells.

An advanced composite or reinforcing substrate is produced with a decorative surface layer, made of a thin veneer of cloth, fabric, paper, wood, vinyl or other material, which is structurally, integrally bonded to the reinforcing substate by simultaneoulsy forming the decorative surface layer together with the substrate to partially or totally encapsulate the substrate and decorative surface layer together with substrate resins. When the resins are catalyzed and cured, a structurally strong and decorative unit as an integral element, results. The process for making the components is particularly suited to a pultrusion process.
