A car wash assembly includes a building and a conveyor which advances a vehicle along a vehicle path within the building. The car wash assembly also includes a washing system located within the building which is operable to wash the vehicle during advancement of the vehicle along the vehicle path. Moreover, the car wash assembly includes an animated figure having an actuated mode of operation during which the animated figure is operated in an active manner, and a non-actuated mode of operation during which the animated figure is passive. Yet further, the car wash assembly includes a detector for detecting presence of the vehicle and generating a control signal in response thereto. The animated figure is placed in the actuated mode of operation in response to generation of the control signal. A method for washing a vehicle within a building is also disclosed.

First and second elongated coaxial tubular members are slidably related for relative longitudinal movement. The first member carries a cylindrically shaped pivot block to which are pivoted a plurality of circumferentially spaced pivot pieces, for pivotal movement towards and away from the first member. A collapsible umbrella canopy supporting rib extends from each of such pieces. A cup shaped member is attached to the second member and operates simultaneously against the pieces to move them away from the first member and extend the ribs outwardly in canopy supporting position upon relative longitudinal movement of the members.

A material distribution device is disclosed for spreading material such as grain during bin loading. A hopper, having a plurality of funnels therein acts in conjunction with the grain to automatically establish the path of the grain through the hopper according to flow rate of the grain passing through the hopper. Arms, rotated by a variable speed drive, receive the grain from the hopper and direct the grain into the bin with the speed of rotation, length and angle with respect to horizontal of the arms being selected and/or controlled to achieve uniform distribution of the grain throughout the bin without causing appreciable grain damage due to impact.

A low thermal conductivity removable heat insulating cover for a cooking utensil lid handle has a hand grip portion for substantially surrounding the lid handle at least along a central portion thereof with a pair of closely adjacent portions depending downwardly from the hand grip portion toward the lid surface and with a protective portion adapted to lie closely adjacent the lid surface covering a region of that surface to form a barrier for preventing a user's hand from contacting the lid when grasping the hand grip portion is disclosed. In one form the protective portion comprises first and second lateral extensions of the ends of the closely adjacent portions remote from the hand grip portion with the cover being formed as a section of an extrusion of substantially uniform cross-sectional configuration. The closely adjacent portions may be releasably joined together by a rib and groove arrangement along the adjoining surfaces thereof. In another form, the hand grip portion is formed as a loop, and that loop extends to also surround the downwardly depending legs of the lid handle with the protective portion extending from the handle along the lid surface beyond the legs. In this form the closely adjacent portions slope inwardly toward one another to form a finger accepting depression near the central portion of the handle.

A one piece heat insulating cover for a closed loop cooking utensil handle is disclosed having a body of resilient rubber-like material with low thermal conductivity with a hand grip portion for substantially surrounding the utensil handle and a protective portion which lies adjacent a portion of the utensil main body between the utensil handle and the main body when the hand grip portion is in position about the utensil handle so that the protective portion provides a barrier to prevent a user's hand from contacting the utensil body when grasping the hand grip portion. The hand grip portion is formed as a generally U-shaped hollow tubular member with the protective portion extending between the ends of the U and with the hollow tubular member being slit along an edge thereof between the ends of the U to facilitate placement and removal of the tubular member about the handle. This slit may be joined by a rib and groove fastening arrangement to maintain the slit closed when the grip is in position on a utensil handle.

A hand grip adapted to be slipped over the metal handles of cooking utensils such as pots and fry pans, having particular application to commercial grade utensils wherein the handles are metal and customarily not provided with a thermally insulating gripping portion. The hand grip is elongated and made of a resilient silicone rubber material having low thermal conductivity so as to remain cool to the touch even though the metal handle becomes quite hot. Extending nearly completely through the grip is a longitudinal opening having a plurality of axial ribs within the opening, which define axial passageways for the flow of air between the metal handle and grip thereby enhancing the insulating qualities of the grip in some circumstances. If desired, the opening may be flat and unobstructed. The grip has suitable durometer and frictional characteristics to remain in place on the metal handle during use.

A tray slide and a support therefor, especially for a serving counter module, in which the tray slide consists of a support bracket arrangement tiltably connected to one side of the module, and which support bracket arrangement is adapted detachably to receive a tray slide member, preferably formed of plastic, from above. The support bracket arrangement can be locked in position in which the tray slide is horizontal for receiving trays of it can be released and tilted downwardly at the side of the module for movement of the counter from place to place and through doorways.

A breath guard canopy for a serving unit of the type in which individuals move trays along one or both sides of the serving unit and receive food stuffs therefrom either by self-service or by being served. A breath guard, or canopy, in the form of at least one sheet of transparent material is supported on the unit in such a position as to be interposed between individuals moving along the unit and food stuffs contained in the unit, thereby protecting the food stuffs from the possibility of contamination. An illumination unit may be incorporated in the canopy to illuminate such foodstuff.

An end panel construction for modular units in which a pair of end panels adapted to be mounted on opposite ends of a mobile modular counter unit or on the opposed ends of adjacent mobile modular counter units are complementarily contoured with vertical convolutions so as to nest together when placed in face to face relation. The end panels are also formed with transversely extending tongues and grooves which interfit when the panels are in face to face engagement and lock the panels together in vertical registration. The convolutions on the panels extend vertically thereon and in laterally spaced relation so that the two panels will nest together in a plurality of laterally adjusted positions while the tongues and grooves thereon will lock the panels together in all of the said adjusted positions.
