The mobile communication terminal comprises a first casing and a second casing carrying a first display part and a second display part, respectively. The first display part and the second display part are each capable of 3D display. The controller of the mobile communication terminal detects the mobile communication terminal being opened vertically or horizontally and detects the opening angle between the first casing and the second casing. In the 3D display in the horizontal opened state, the visibility of the 3D display is altered as the opening angle is changed. Therefore, the controller of the mobile communication terminal calculates the viewing angle according to the detected opening angle and changes the parameters for the 3D display, whereby excellent visibility is maintained even if the opening angle is changed.

In an active matrix display device, one source line is arranged for every two pixels arranged along a gate line direction, and each two pixels which are adjacent to each other along the gate line direction across one of the source lines share the source line and are each connected to different gate lines. A gate driver block performs a first driving control which sequentially selects, in a first order, the gate lines in a pair of two gate lines corresponding to two pixels which are adjacent to each other along the gate line direction and are connected to different source lines. The gate driver block also performs a second driving control which sequentially selects, in a second order which is opposite to the first order, the gate lines in such a pair of two gate lines.

An image display circuit supplies gray scale data according to a video signal to a liquid crystal panel to present a gray-scaled display and scans the liquid crystal panel N times during one field period of a video signal. The image display circuit includes a table ROM comparing a current video signal with a previous video signal of one frame before, and generates gray scale data for N times in accordance with the comparison result. Gray scale data greater than the gray scale of the current video signal is generated when the comparison result indicates that the gray scale of the current video signal is greater than that of the previous video signal, and gray scale data smaller than the gray scale of the current video signal is generated when the gray scale of the current video signal is found to be smaller than that of the previous video signal. Based on the generated gray scale data, the liquid crystal panel is driven with the proper gray scales.

Gray scale liquid crystal display

An image display circuit supplies gray scale data according to a video signal to a liquid crystal panel to present a gray-scaled display, and scans the liquid crystal panel N times during one field period of a video signal. The image display circuit includes a table ROM comparing a current video signal with a previous video signal of one frame before, and generates gray scale data for N times in accordance with the comparison result. Gray scale data greater than the gray scale of the current video signal is generated when the comparison result indicates that the gray scale of the current video signal is greater than that of the previous video signal, and gray scale data smaller than the gray scale of the current video signal is generated when the gray scale of the current video signal is found to be smaller than that of the previous video signal. Based on the generated gray scale data, the liquid crystal panel is driven with the proper gray scales.

In driving a color liquid crystal panel having red, green and blue color filters, a color liquid crystal display apparatus sets signal electrodes of these three colors in a no-bias status during a non-display period of an image signal in such a manner as to permit at least two colors of the signal electrodes have mutually different effective voltages. The effective voltages in the no-bias state are set at values which provide the optimum value for .DELTA.n.multidot.d (.DELTA.n: birefringence) in accordance with cell gaps d on the signal electrodes, thereby minimizing the height difference between the color filters.
