A method of delivering tumor treating electric fields to a body of a patient. The method includes scanning the body of the patient for identifying at least two tumor-filled areas. The method further includes determining a spatial relationship in between the at least two tumor-filled areas. The method further includes arranging an array of insulated electrode elements on the body of the patient. The method further includes implementing at least two subarray firing configurations for the array of insulated electrode elements to treat the at least two tumor-filled areas depending at least in part upon the spatial relationship in between the at least two tumor-filled areas such that each subarray firing configuration treats a respective tumor-filled area.

Apparatus and method for optimizing and adapting treatment of multiple tumors in patients with metastatic disease by electric field

A method of applying electrode elements configured in an array of elements to an individual's skin, the electrode elements being part of an apparatus for delivering a plurality of electromagnetic fields to the body of the individual, the method comprising the steps of: positioning, applying, holding and bowing. The positioning step includes the positioning of each of the electrode elements of the array of elements into corresponding cavities in at least one holding rack. The applying step includes the applying of a medical adhesive to a surface of the plurality of electrode elements. The holding step includes the holding of the holding rack against the skin at a selected location. The bowing step includes the bowing of a portion of the holding rack causing one of the electrode elements to pop out of the holding rack, with the electrode element adhering to the skin by way of the medical adhesive.

Apparatus and method for treating multiple tumors in patients with metastatic disease by electric fields

A method of using an electrode array to deliver tumor treating electric fields to a patient including the steps of: placing a plurality of electrode elements in optimized locations on the patient, each of the electrode elements being independently programmable, the optimized locations are optimized relative to a target area wherein at least one tumor is located; programming a control device with a frequency range, a firing configuration and a firing sequence for the plurality of electrode elements; and generating electrical signals in the frequency range, the electrical signals being directed to at least two of the plurality of electrode elements in a sequence determined by the firing sequence.

A tumor treating system for the delivery of tumor treating electric fields to a patient including a control device, a field generator, and electrodes. The control device has a frequency range, a firing configuration and a firing sequence. The field generator generates electrical signals within the frequency range. The electrodes are placed in optimized locations on the patient. Each electrode includes a ceramic layer, a metalized layer and a circuit element. The metalized layer is coupled to the ceramic layer on one side of the ceramic layer. The metalized layer has an outer surface facing away from the ceramic layer. The circuit element is coupled to the metalized layer. The coupling of the circuit element to the metalized layer is across substantially all of the outer surface of the metalized layer. The circuit element conducts the electrical signals to the metalized layer as directed by the control device.

Insulated electrode for delivering tumor treating electromagnetic fields

An apparatus for delivering a plurality of electromagnetic fields to a body of an individual. The apparatus includes a plurality of electrode elements and a control device coupled with the plurality of electrode elements. The control device is configured to detect temperatures of the plurality of electrode elements, determine alternate firing sequences of the plurality of electrode elements, and implement the determined alternate firing sequences for delivering the plurality of electromagnetic fields for treating tumors in the body of the individual and reducing temperatures of the plurality of electrode elements.

An insulated electrode system for delivering a plurality of tumor treating electromagnetic fields including an array of electrode elements for proximate location on a body of a patient. Each electrode element of the array having an insulation layer. Each electrode element being independently electrically accessible and configured to be assigned to emanate an electromagnetic field relative to at least one other of the electrode elements.

An insulated electrode system for delivering a plurality of tumor treating electromagnetic fields including an array of electrode elements for proximate location on a body of a patient. Each electrode element of the array having an insulation layer. Each electrode element being independently electrically accessible and configured to be dynamically assigned to emanate an electromagnetic field relative to at least one other of said electrode elements.
