An on-vehicle electric compressor for a vehicle includes a compression mechanism compressing a refrigerant, an electric motor driving the compression mechanism and a housing accommodating therein the compression mechanism and the electric motor. The on-vehicle electric compressor further includes a cover fixed to the housing, a motor driving circuit disposed between the housing and the cover and driving the electric motor, and a protecting member protecting the cover against an external force caused when the vehicle has a collision. The protecting member has a contact portion that is contactable with a receiving portion when the external force is applied to the protecting member, the receiving portion having a greater rigidity than the cover to receive the external force through the contact portion.

An electrically-driven compressor including a housing, an electric motor, a compression mechanism, a cover member, a motor drive circuit, and a sealing member is disclosed. The electric motor is accommodated in the housing. The compression mechanism is accommodated in the housing and operated by the electric motor. The cover member is attached to the housing. The housing and the cover member form an accommodation portion including an accommodation space therein. The motor drive circuit is accommodated in the accommodation space and drives the electric motor. The sealing member is arranged between the housing and the cover member to seal the accommodation space. The sealing member includes an elastic seal portion that comes into close contact with the housing and the cover member. A core sustains the shape of the seal portion in conformance with the circumferential edge of the accommodation space. The core is formed so that at least a circumferential edge part of the core is in conformance with the circumferential edge of the accommodation space. The seal portion is formed integrally with the circumferential edge part of the shape sustaining member by depositing rubber material thereon.

Electrically-driven compressor

A motor-driven compressor includes suction, discharge, and intermediate pressure housings. The accommodation housing includes a compression mechanism, which compresses refrigerant, and injection ports, which deliver intermediate pressure refrigerant to the compression mechanism from an external refrigerant circuit. The compressed refrigerant is discharged into the discharge housing. The intermediate pressure housing includes an intake port, which draws in the intermediate pressure refrigerant, an accommodation recess, which is connected to the intake port, and supply passages, which connect the accommodating recess to the injection ports. The accommodation recess accommodates the valve mechanism. The valve mechanism includes a valve plate, which has a valve hole that connects the intake port and the supply passages, and a reed valve formation plate including a reed valve, located between the valve plate and the supply passages, to open and close the valve hole.

A scroll compressor includes a housing having therein a discharge pressure region, a compression pressure region and a suction pressure region; a fixed scroll to form a discharge chamber as the discharge pressure region; and a movable scroll cooperating with the fixed scroll to form a compression chamber as the compression pressure region. The discharge pressure region includes an oil separation chamber connected to at least one of the compression pressure region and the suction pressure region through an oil supply passage having a flow restrictor. The flow restrictor is provided by a gap between an oil supply hole formed in the fixed scroll and an insertion member inserted in the oil supply hole. The gap is in the form of a spiral groove provided in at least one of an inner peripheral surface of the oil supply hole and an outer peripheral surface of the insertion member.

Scroll compressor

An electric compressor has a hermetic terminal unit that is electrically connected to a motor side wire and a drive circuit side wire and inserted through a through hole formed through a separation wall separating a motor chamber and an accommodating chamber. The hermetic terminal unit has a first connecting terminal that is electrically connected to the motor side wire and elastically deformable, a second connecting terminal that is electrically connected to the drive circuit side wire and elastically deformable, and a conductive member that is fitted to the first connecting terminal and the second connecting terminal and electrically connects the first connecting terminal and the second connecting terminal. The first connecting terminal is elastically deformed and holds the motor side wire by a restoring force thereof. The second connecting terminal is elastically deformed and holds the drive circuit side wire by a restoring force thereof.

Electric compressor

An electric compressor is provided to more securely suppress breakage of an electric component. An inverter cover forms an accommodation space. A bus bar constituting a portion of an electric circuit for driving an electric motor is accommodated in the accommodation space. The inverter cover has a rib projecting into the accommodation space. The bus bar is placed on the rib.

A motor-driven compressor includes a metal housing accommodating a compression unit and an electric motor and a resin cover coupled to the housing. The cover and the housing define an accommodation chamber that accommodates a motor driving circuit that drives the electric motor. A metal shield is fixed to the cover and blocks electromagnetic noise. The shield and the cover are stacked together. A sealing member located between the shield and the cover. The sealing member is configured to block entry of foreign matter into the accommodation chamber through a gap between the shield and the cover.

Motor driven compressor

A motor-driven compressor includes an electric motor driven by a motor driver, which includes a switching element that converts DC voltage from a battery to AC voltage. A control unit controls the switching operation of the switching element. A temperature detector detects the temperature of the switching element. The control unit suspends the switching operation of the switching element when the temperature detected by the temperature detector rises to a temperature threshold. The temperature threshold includes a first temperature threshold, corresponding to a withstand temperature of the switching element, and a second temperature threshold, which is higher than the first temperature threshold. The control unit switches the temperature threshold from the first temperature threshold to the second temperature threshold when the control unit activates a field weakening control that reduces counter electromotive force generated by the electric motor.

Motor-driven compressor with switching element

A motor-driven compressor includes an electric motor driven by a motor driver, which includes a switching element that converts DC voltage from a battery to AC voltage. A control unit controls the switching operation of the switching element. A temperature detector detects the temperature of the switching element. A voltage detector detects DC voltage applied to the switching element from the battery. The control unit suspends the switching operation of the switching element when the temperature detected by the temperature detector rises to a predetermined temperature threshold. The control unit also reduces counter electromotive force generated by the electric motor. The temperature threshold includes a first temperature threshold, corresponding to a withstand temperature of the switching element, and a second temperature threshold, which is higher than the first temperature threshold. The control unit switches the temperature threshold between the first and second temperature thresholds.

A motor-driven compressor includes a compression mechanism compressing refrigerant gas, an electric motor driving the compression mechanism, a housing made of a thermally conductive material and accommodating the compression mechanism and the electric motor and an inverter assembly controlling rotation of the electric motor. The inverter assembly includes an elastic member made of a thermally conductive material and disposed in contact with the housing, a circuit board supported directly by the elastic member, an electronic part mounted on the circuit board and a base member made of a thermally conductive material, fixed to the housing and having a closed end. The base member fixes the electronic part. The base member and the housing cooperate to form an accommodation space that accommodates the elastic member, the circuit board and the electronic part. The closed end of the base member and the elastic member forms therebetween a space.

A motor-driven compressor includes a metal housing accommodating a compression unit and an electric motor and a cover coupled to the housing. The cover and the housing define an accommodation chamber that accommodates a motor driving circuit that drives the electric motor. The cover includes a metal shield that blocks electromagnetic noise, a resin outer insulator that is fixed to an outer side of the shield and includes an outer circumferential portion, and a resin inner insulator that is fixed to an inner side of the shield and includes an outer circumferential portion. The shield, the outer insulator, and the inner insulator are separate from one another and stacked together. The shield is held between the outer insulator and the inner insulator. The outer circumferential portion of the outer insulator is joined to the outer circumferential portion of the inner insulator.

Motor-driven compressor

A motor-driven compressor that includes a compression unit, an electric motor, a housing, a cover, and a motor driving circuit. A metal terminal electrically connects the electric motor to the motor driving circuit. A coupling base is coupled to the housing, and the motor driving circuit is coupled to the coupling base. Each of the coupling base and the housing includes an insertion portion through which the metal terminal is inserted. At least one of the coupling base and the housing includes a protrusion. The protrusion is separated from the insertion portions. At least the other of the coupling base and the housing includes a receiving portion that receives the protrusion. The coupling base is positioned relative to the housing by connection of the insertion portion of the coupling base and the insertion portion of the housing and by engagement of the protrusion and receiving portion.

The control unit reduces counter electromotive force generated by the electric motor. The controller changes the temperature threshold such that the temperature threshold gradually increases from when the detected DC voltage is the highest voltage in the applicable voltage range of the battery to when the detected DC voltage is the lowest voltage in the applicable voltage range.
