In one example, a valve seat insert for a cylinder head seat pocket of an internal combustion engine is described. The valve seat insert comprises an annular body comprising a first material and including an inner surface, an outer surface opposite the inner surface, a front surface adjoining the inner and outer surfaces, and a back surface opposite the front surface adjoining the inner and outer surfaces. The front surface includes an inner circumference greater than an inner circumference of the back surface. The back surface includes a first recession inlaid with a sacrificial anode comprising a second material different from the first material and having an exposed surface. In this manner, it may be possible to substantially prevent corrosion of the cylinder head seat pocket.

Valve seat insert

A multicylinder internal combustion engine includes a cylinder block, a cylinder head and a gasket mounted between the cylinder block and cylinder head. A coolant passage extends through the cylinder block and laterally along an uppermost portion of a shared cylinder wall extending between adjacent engine cylinders. The laterally extending cooling passage is defined at least in part by a passage formed in the cylinder head gasket.

Internal combustion engine with direct cooling of cylinder components

A sealing and lubrication system includes first and second machine components with a combination sealing and lubrication directing gasket mounted between the first and second machine components. The gasket includes a sealing portion extending between the components and a nozzle portion which is operatively connected with the sealing portion as well as with a lubrication supply passage. The nozzle portion extends from the sealing portion of the gasket to a region external to the first machine component and the second machine component. The nozzle provides lubricating oil to at least one moving part of a third machine component.

Lubrication and sealing system for internal combustion engine

An acoustic suppression arrangement for a component undergoing induced vibration is provided. The arrangement includes a component body having an interior surface and an exterior surface having a panel portion . A containment plate is provided having a spaced relationship from the panel portion. A first projector is connected to the component body panel portion and extends toward the containment plate . A second projector is connected to the containment plate. A connector system is provided to connect the containment plate to the component body while placing the first and second projectors in an interference fit. Vibratory energy of the component body is dissipated by frictional contact between the projectors
