In a packet forwarding apparatus including first line interfaces accommodating user terminals, a second line interface connected to a communication node on a session management apparatus side, and a protocol processing unit for updating a connection management table and a header information table when a specific session control packet is received from one of the first line interfaces. Upon receiving a real-time packet from one of the first line interfaces, if a table entry corresponding to the header information of the received packet has been registered in the connection management table, the control unit routes the received packet to one of the first line interfaces after rewriting its header information based on the header information table, and if the table entry has not been registered, the control unit routes the received packet as it is to the second line interface.

Packet forwarding apparatus suitable for real time packets

A listening-or-viewing charge is differentiated with bit rates depending on distributed programs. A broadband access server for holding user channels by PPP and replicating and transferring multicast packets have a counter for counting the number of distributed multicast packets and the number of distributed bytes at each multicast group address. The counter values (byte counts and packet counts) when a user joins a multicast group and when the user leaves the multicast group and a multicast session ID containing a PPP user ID and a multicast group address are sent to a multicast accounting radius server. The multicast accounting server provides an accounting on a basis of the byte counts, the packet counts, or a bit rate.

Multicast accounting control system and broadband access server

A BAS/load balancer which combines the functions of a BAS (Broadband Access Server) providing a dynamic network connection to a user network, and a load balancing relaying the communications traffic of the user network to one of plural load balancing target apparatuses, and which can apply an arbitrary load balancing algorithm. When the BAS/load balancer of the invention sets up a dynamic connection between the user networks, the balancer determines the load balancing target apparatus which is a relay destination using an arbitrary load balancing algorithm for both send and receive communications traffic in the user network.

Packet forwarding apparatus

A packet transfer apparatus has a controller for controlling transmission of a PADO packet on the basis of the information that is previously set in the packet transfer apparatus in order that the PADO packet can be transmitted back to the terminals or a PADI can be discarded when the PADI packet sent from the terminals to the packet transfer apparatus does not have any Service-Name specified. In addition, another controller is used. This controller is provided so that, when a Service-Name that indicates the type of an offered communication service is specified in the PADI packet, it can judge whether the Service-Name is previously registered in a memory and decide to transmit the PADO packet to the terminal if the Service-Name is previously registered, but to discard the PADI packet if the Service-Name is not registered.

Packet transfer apparatus

An exhaust gas purification apparatus for an automotive internal combustion engine. The apparatus comprises a casing that forms a part of an exhaust gas passage of the engine. A substrate, disposed in the casing, carries a substrate to purify exhaust gas. A supporting mat is provided to support the substrate in the casing by being located between the substrate and the casing. The supporting mat has a depression to trap foreign matters at an upstream-side end of the supporting mat, the upstream-side end facing upstream side of exhaust gas flow in the exhaust gas passage.

Exhaust gas purification apparatus

A metallic catalyst carrier has good productivity and improves the exhaust performance by causing the flow of exhaust gas therein to become turbulent, without causing tearing, cutting, and warping of its honeycomb-structure The metallic catalyst carrier has a base metal sheet and a corrugated metal sheet laminated together with a plurality of cell passages formed between the base sheet and the corrugated sheet such that exhaust gases passes through the cell passages . The base sheet or the corrugated sheet is equipped with a plurality of hole lines or arranged along hole lines or in a direction perpendicular to the cell passage . Between adjacent hole lines or , the holes or that form the hole lines or are separated by a prescribed distance in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal directions of the cell passages

Metallic catalyst carrier

For resiliently and safely supporting a monolith in a housing, a supporting structure is proposed. An annular seat structure is defined in the housing. An annular resilient washer is made of wire mesh and is put on the annular seat structure for supporting thereon a circular peripheral edge of the monolith. A biasing structure biases the monolith toward the annular resilient washer to compress the washer. The washer has a generally rectangular cross section and has a chamfered surface around a circular outer surface thereof. The chamfered surface is positioned radially outside the circular peripheral edge of the monolith. With this, even when compressed by the monolith, the washer is prevented from producing a biasing force for pulling the circular peripheral edge of the monolith radially outward, and thus, damage of the edge is suppressed.

Monolith supporting structure for use in catalytic converter

A catalytic converter for purifying exhaust gas discharged from an automotive internal combustion engine. The catalytic converter comprises a casing in which a monolithic catalyst carrier is disposed. An annular cap is fixedly disposed inside the casing and located generally coaxial with the monolithic catalyst carrier. The annular cap is located near an end face of the monolithic catalyst carrier. The cap includes annular bottom, inner and outer walls. The inner and outer walls are separate from each other and extend from the bottom wall. The inner wall is located radially inward of the outer wall. The bottom, inner and outer walls are arranged generally U-shaped in cross-section so as to form a groove. Additionally, an annular elastic washer is coaxially disposed within the groove of the annular cap. The elastic washer is disposed in press contact with the end face of the monolithic catalyst carrier to axially elastically support the monolithic catalyst carrier. The annular elastic washer is an annular molded structure of wire mesh. The annular elastic washer has an inner peripheral face which has a diameter larger than a diameter of an outer peripheral surface of the inner wall of the cap so as to form a clearance between the elastic washer and the inner wall of the cap in a state where the elastic washer is assembled in the casing upon being compressed.
