The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for bending a glass sheet, and has an object of achieving high forming accuracy of a glass sheet along a perpendicular direction perpendicular to a conveying direction of the glass sheet, in particular, to obtain high forming accuracy both along the conveying direction and the perpendicular direction. An apparatusfor bending a glass sheet for bending a heated glass sheet G while the glass sheet G is conveyed in a conveying direction X by a roller conveyercomprising a plurality of conveying rollers; the apparatuscomprising a plurality of straight rollers that are arranged upper and lower positions across a conveying surface for the glass sheet G and not curved on the conveying surface, and a plurality of curving rollersarranged upper and lower positions across the conveying surface for the glass sheet G on adjacently downstream side of the straight rollersand curvable along a perpendicular direction Y in the conveying surface so as to bend the glass sheet G along the perpendicular direction Y.

Method and apparatus for bending a glass sheet

A glass sheet, which has been heated to have a viscosity of not lower than 10Pa&#xb7;s and not higher than 10Pa&#xb7;s, is pressed against a mold having a certain bending surface to be bent. Method for air-cooled reinforcing of glass sheet

A plurality of rollers provided at positions where a transferred glass plate is moved vertically to form a transferring plane formed by the primary rollers into a curved plane, and the curved plane is shifted in the transferring direction of the glass plate with the transfer of the glass plate to bend and shape the glass plate to have a predetermined curvature along the curved plane. Thus, there are obtainable a bending and shaping method and apparatus which does not require the exchanging of rollers in response to the type of glass plate being worked.

A glass plate is heated in a heating furnace and is bend-shaped to be a complexly curved glass plate while the glass plate is passed on curved rollers wherein support pads of a pushing mechanism push the complexly curved glass plate from an upstream side to a downstream side of a transferring device in a state that a rear edge of the complexly curved glass plate is supported by the support pads whereby the complexly curved glass plate is delivered to a cooling device side while a turning movement of the complexly curved glass plate is controlled during the transfer.
