A video disk recorder has a function for carrying out a linking on an optical disk and contains a predetermined data building-in circuit for supplying a predetermined fixed data as a playback data. Upon linking, a linking point is placed in a CPM area on the optical disk and the fixed data is recorded in this CPM area. Upon playback of the CPM area in which the linking is carried out, the fixed data supplied from the predetermined data building-in circuit is read out as the playback data.

A disk stores data groups (GOP) of compressed picture data arranged over sectors. A 1st data indicative of a compression method and a 2nd data indicative of the presence of the GOP are contained in a leading sector. Data D (independent frame) is located at the head of the GOP. The 1st and 2nd data and GOP are aligned in order. The 1st data related to a 2nd GOP is detected after data D of the 1st GOP is reproduced to reproduce data D of the 2nd GOP. Data D arranged by an interval in the GOP are reproduced. In a quick traverse/reverse mode, a 2nd data D next to a 1st data D already reproduced is detected from a position of the GOP corresponding to a value obtained by subtracting/adding a fixed value from/to an integerfold of the interval to reproduce the 2nd data. Data D scattered over sectors of a disk are reproduced. Each sector has a 1st and a 2nd field. The 1st field stores signals not interleaved relative to signals of the 2nd field. A positional data of a leading sector is recorded in the 1st field. The leading sector is located in a 3rd field in which data D is recorded. The positional data is detected to reproduce the data D.

A high density signal recording and reproducing apparatus comprises a disc drive comprising for recording and reproducing with an existing recording format a digital signal on and from a disc rotating at a rotational speed which is 1/N times a standard rotational speed, a circuit for generating N index pulses in one revolution time period of the disc, a selecting circuit for generating a selecting instruction which selects and designates an arbitrary track part on and from which the digital signal is to be recorded and reproduced out of N track parts of one track, a circuit responsive to the selecting instruction for generating a switching signal and an operation stop signal for stopping a recording or reproducing operation of the disc drive during a scanning period in which the remaining N-1 track parts excluding the arbitrary track part are scanned, and for passing out of the N index pulses in one revolution time period of the disc only one index pulse corresponding to the arbitrary track part, and a circuit responsive to the switching signal for selectively passing and supplying the reproduced digital signal to the selecting circuit only during a time period in which the digital signal is reproduced from the arbitrary track part.

High density signal recording and reproducing apparatus

A tracking control apparatus for a disc reproducing apparatus comprises a circuit including a head for reproducing an FM video signal from a disc recorded with the FM video signal on concentric tracks or a spiral track formed on a recording surface thereof, a moving mechanism including a motor for moving the head in a radial direction of the disc, an extracting circuit for extracting a vertical blanking period portion of the reproduced FM video signal, a circuit for sampling and holding a D.C. level of the vertical blanking period portion and for obtaining a digital value indicative of the sampled and held D.C. level, a memory for storing the digital value, and a control circuit for controlling a write-in and a read-out with respect to the memory. The control circuit supplies a control signal to the moving mechanism to move the head to a plurality of positions which are mutually separated by predetermined minute quantities with respect to one track pitch and writes a plurality of digital values into the memory which plurality of digital values are obtained when the head assumes the plurality of positions. The control circuit obtains a maximum digital value from among the plurality of digital values stored in the memory and supplies to the moving mechanism a control signal for moving the head to a position where the maximum digital value is obtainable.

Tracking control apparatus using digitized vertical synchronizing signal

A synchronizing signal transmission system comprises: a circuit for mixing a horizontal synchronizing signal and a vertical synchronizing signal from a synchronizing signal generator and producing a mixed synchronizing signal having a first voltage-level range wherein horizontal synchronizing pulses exist only in a period corresponding to the pulse width of the vertical synchronizing signal, a second voltage-level range wherein the horizontal synchronizing pulses exist in all periods, and a third voltage-level range wherein the horizontal synchronizing pulses do not exist in a period corresponding to the pulse width of the vertical synchronizing signal and exist in other periods; a transmission line for transmitting the mixed synchronizing signal; and a circuit for separating the mixed synchronizing signal thus transmitted in accordance with the first, seconds, and third voltage-level ranges, leading out a signal corresponding to the second voltage-level range thus separated as a horizontal synchronizing signal, and, at the same time, processing signals corresponding respectively to the first through third voltage-level ranges thereby to obtain and lead out a vertical synchronizing signal.
