An image forming apparatus is provided with a paper sheet feeder for selective feeding from a group of paper sheets in either a first or second cassette. In the paper sheet feeder, first and second registration rollers are provided in front of the first and second cassettes respectively, and a common registration roller is provided in front of a photosensitive drum. When the first group of paper sheets is selected, a first paper sheet is supplied to the first registration roller from the first cassette so that the paper sheet is registered by the first registration roller. The registered paper sheet is supplied to the common registration roller so that the paper sheet is also registered by the common registration roller. When the second group of paper sheets is selected, the second paper sheet is supplied to the second registration roller from the second cassette so that the paper sheet is registered by the second registration roller. The registered paper sheet is supplied to the common registration roller through the first registration roller so that the paper sheet is also registered by the common registration roller.

Paper sheet feeder

A switch is located near a pair of register rollers for feeding a document sheet toward a platen glass. A pair of document-feeding rollers are located near a platen glass. When the switch detects the rear edge of the document sheet being fed by the register rollers, it generates a signal. Upon receipt of this signal, the document-feeding rollers rotate, thus feeding the sheet for a prescribed distance and placing it at a predetermined position on the platen glass. The image on the sheet, thus positioned, is copied. An upper roller and a lower roller contacting each other are arranged at the exit side of the register rollers. The document sheets are braked as they pass, one after another, through the gap between the upper and lower rollers and are fed at the same speed, thus reducing their speeds to one and the same speed in spite of their different inertias. Hence, the switch detects the rear edges of the sheets at regular intevals, and the document-feeding rollers feed each document sheet, exactly for a prescribed distance, thereby placing the sheet at the predetermined position on the platen glass.

Automatic document feeder

A copying apparatus includes an automatic document feeding apparatus (hereinafter referred to or RADF) for automatically feeding a document onto the platen glass table for copying and for re-feeding the document onto the glass table after the document is reversed. The RADF has an upper roller with a large radius and a lower roller with a small radius. First, second, and third gates are located along the periphery of the upper roller. When feeding the document, the first and second gates define a document path from a document feed tray to the platen glass table. When reversing the document, the first, second, and third gates define a document path for reversing the document and re-feeding the reversed document onto the platen glass table. When ejecting the document, the second and third gates define a document path from the platen glass table onto a surface of the RADF.

An apparatus for forming an image on an image-receiving means comprises an inlet section for guiding the image-receiving section inserted along a path, a supporting section for supporting the image-receiving means inserted from the inlet section, a printing section, opposed to the supporting section through the image-receiving means, the printing section being movable between an operative position where the printing operation is achieved and an inoperative position where the image-receiving section passes smoothly through, and an adjusting section for adjusting the image-receiving means inserted from the inlet section when the printing section is moved to the inoperative position.

Image information apparatus

A feed apparatus for feeding paper to a copy machine is disclosed. Paper on a paper table is vertically moved by a lift mechanism. The lift mechanism is made up of a coupling mechanism, a transmitting mechanism, and a mounting mechanism. This mechanism transmits a drive force from a motor and a motor drive to the paper table, to vertically move the table. The table has an elastic member attached thereto. The elastic member has a predetermined elastic force to move the table upwardly. The table is lifted by cooperation of the lift mechanism and the elastic member. A controller applies a command to the motor to drive a transport mechanism. The driven transport mechanism picks up paper sheet by sheet and feeds it to the copy machine.

An image forming apparatus has a document table for placing a document thereon on the upper surface thereof. A scanner and a printr are provided in the apparatus. The scanner scans an image formed on the document placed on the document table. The printer forms an image based on the scanned data from the scanner. A document cover for covering the document placed on the document table is arranged on the upper portion of the apparatus. A keyboard unit is arranged on the upper surface of the document cover. An operator inputs operation data to the scanner and the printer through the keyboard unit.
