An optical axis of a telephotographic camera for picking up an enlarged image of an iris is placed between guide unit for guiding a subject K into a range in which an iris image can be picked up and direction indication guide unit for indicating the direction in which the subject K is to be directed. If the subject K wears glasses, the face direction of the subject K is changed as indicated by the direction indication guide unit so that an image of illumination light from an iris lighting fixture on the lens, etc., of the glasses of the subject K does not overlap the iris image.

To provide an optical filter switching device for a camera in which a clear image can always be obtained during the day and at night. The present invention provides an iris imaging apparatus is configured of a platform; a wide angle camera for imaging an image of a person to be authenticated; wide angle camera lighting devices controlled to emit light when the wide angle camera shoots; a telephoto camera for imaging the enlarged image of the eye of the person to be authenticated; iris lighting devices controlled to emit light when the telephoto camera shoots; first motors for rotating the iris lighting devices and directing the luminous light in the direction of the person to be authenticated; a turning stage mounted with the wide angle camera, the wide angle camera lighting devices, the telephoto camera, the iris lighting devices and the first motors, the turning stage rotatablly mounted on the platform; and a second motor for turning the turning stage. In a monitor camera system comprising a monitor camera making 360-degree panning rotation and more-than 90-degree tilting rotation and a control unit for controlling the monitor camera, for masking a privacy zone in a picture taken by the monitor camera, the control unit sets mask data through the use of a contour parameter of a configuration of a mask zone for covering the privacy zone, while the monitor camera side holds the mask data to mask a portion of the picture with the mask zone defined on the basis of the mask data. An iris pickup apparatus includes: a wide-angle camera for picking up the image of a photographic object, a telephotograph camera for picking up the enlarged image of an iris of a photographic object by focusing the lens of the camera on the iris of the photographic object, a panning mechanism for panning the telephotograph camera, and a tilt mechanism for pivotally tilting the wide-angle camera and the telephotograph camera. The wide-angle camera and the telephotograph camera are arranged so that their optical axes cross each other at right angles. The tilt mechanism operates to pivotally tilt the wide-angle camera and the telephotograph camera on the same plane as the optical axis plane.
