Techniques are described herein that are capable of dynamically re-allocating computing resources while maintaining network connection(s). Applications of users are run in a computing unit. Computing resources are allocated among the applications based at least in part on dynamic demands of the applications for the computing resources and resource limits associated with the respective customers. In a first example, the computing resources are dynamically re-allocated among the applications, as a result of changing the resource limit of at least one customer, while maintaining at least one network connection between a client device of each customer and at least one respective application. In a second example, the computing resources are dynamically re-allocated among the applications, as a result of changing the resource limit of at least one customer, while maintaining at least one network connection between an interface and a client device of each customer.

One example provides a computing system configured to provide scalable, real-time duplex communications across a data network, the computing system comprising one or more processors, and storage comprising instructions executable by the one or more processors to instantiate one or more real-time duplex communication service instances. Each real-time duplex communication service instance comprises a real-time duplex communication framework comprising a client hub configured to receive connections for a plurality of clients and a server hub configured to receive connections for a plurality of servers, and each real-time duplex communication service instance is configured to publish messages regarding a state of the real-time duplex communication framework to a channel accessed by other real-time duplex communication service instances.

Techniques and mechanisms are disclosed that enable a data collection system to adaptively control collection of data from one or more external data sources. At a high level, adaptively controlling collection of data from external data sources may include collecting performance information related to one or more data collection nodes and, in response to analyzing the collected performance information, adapting rates at which the data collection nodes send data collection requests to external data sources. Data collection performance information generally may include, but is not limited to, network traffic data, error messages generated by external data sources and/or data collection nodes, computing device performance information, and any other types of information related to a data collection node's ability to collect data from external data sources.

A method for providing virtual membership cards whereby by a card broker generates a virtual membership card based on the information of a card issuer and the information of a user and sends the virtual membership card to the mobile terminal of the user though a communication network. A virtual membership card system includes a membership management module, for managing card issuer account information, card user account information, and the virtual membership card information and a virtual membership card management module, including a card generation module, for generating a virtual membership card based on the information of the card issuer and the information of the user and a card distribution module, for sending the virtual membership card to the mobile terminal of the user though a communication network. With the present invention, merchants can easily issue, validate and maintain their membership cards, and the user may retrieve, use and manage his/her membership card at any place and at any time.
