Systems and techniques are described for processing video data. For example, an apparatus can determine, for a sample of a first block of video data, histogram of gradient (HoG) information based on at least one sample from a second block neighboring the first block. The apparatus can determine, based on the HoG information, an angle associated with a direction of a gradient for the sample and the at least one sample from the second block neighboring the first block. The apparatus can further compare the angle to one or more predefined values and determine an index associated with the angle based on the comparison of the angle to the one or more predefined values. The apparatus can then determine, based on the index, an intra-prediction mode for coding the first block of video data.

Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that convert a mono image to a stereo image pair. For example, a process may obtain an input image including appearance values at pixel positions. The input image corresponds to an appearance of a scene from a first viewpoint. The process may further determine a depth image comprising depth values at original pixel positions that are mapped to corresponding pixel positions of the input image. The process may further generate a first output image corresponding to a second viewpoint of the scene different than the first viewpoint and a second output image corresponding to a third viewpoint of the scene different than the second viewpoint. The process may further enable comfort-based 3D style presets for adjusting comfort parameters for viewing a stereo image pair.

A method of encoding or decoding video data includes constructing a list of chroma intra-prediction modes for a chroma block of a current block of the video data, wherein constructing includes adding intra-prediction modes of a first group to the list of chroma intra-prediction modes, the first group comprising two or more intra-prediction modes derived from intra-prediction modes of two or more co-located luma blocks of the current block that are co-located with the chroma block; determining an intra-prediction mode for the chroma block from the list of chroma intra-prediction modes; and encoding or decoding the chroma block based on the intra-prediction mode.

A method of coding video data comprises determining, based on a comparison of a threshold and a quantity of reference samples in a selected template, whether the selected template is allowed, wherein a mode index indicates which template from among a plurality of templates is the selected template, wherein each of the templates includes a different set of reconstructed samples that neighbor a current coding unit (CU) of a current picture of the video data; based on determining that the selected template is allowed and that a convolutional cross-component model (CCCM) mode is to be used, applying the CCCM mode to predict chroma samples of the current CU based on reconstructed luma samples of the current CU and the reference samples in the selected template; and; and encoding or decoding the current CU based on the predicted chroma samples of the current CU.

A method of encoding or decoding video data includes determining that a block vector difference (BVD) value is non-zero, wherein the BVD value is indicative of a difference between a block vector for a current block of the video data and a block vector predictor, and wherein the block vector points to a reference block based on samples in a same picture as the current block; and encoding or decoding a value for the BVD value, without signaling or parsing syntax information indicating whether an absolute value of the BVD value is greater than one.

A method of encoding or decoding video data comprises: for each respective intra prediction mode of a plurality of intra prediction modes in a most-probable mode (MPM) list: generating, based on reference samples for a template region and using the respective intra prediction mode, prediction samples for the template region; and determining a cost for the respective intra prediction mode; determining a first intra prediction mode and a second intra prediction mode in the MPM list having lowest costs; determining a preliminary prediction block for the first intra prediction mode and a preliminary prediction block for the second intra prediction mode; generating a prediction block based on a fusion of the preliminary prediction blocks weighted according to a weight for the first intra prediction mode and a weight for the second intra prediction mode.

The video encoder and video decoder may determine a number of reference lines to use for multiple reference line processing based on an intra prediction mode, and decode a block of video data using the multiple reference line processing based on the number of reference lines.
