The present disclosure generally discloses an autonomous wireless transmission mechanism. The autonomous wireless transmission mechanism may be configured to support autonomous transmissions by wireless end devices to wireless access nodes in a connectionless manner. In general, an autonomous wireless transmission by a wireless end device may include transmission of a preamble in a preamble transmission zone and autonomous transmission of a payload over one or more resource units of one or more payload transmission zones without requiring establishment of a connection between the wireless end device and the wireless access node. The autonomous wireless transmission mechanism, by obviating the need for a wireless end device to establish a connection with a wireless access node in order to transmit data to the wireless access node, also obviates a need for the wireless end device to operate in a scheduled transmission mode.

Autonomous wireless transmissions

Various methods and devices are provided to address the need for improved dual connectivity. For example, a network node () in a primary network includes a processing unit () and an interface unit (), which includes a network interface () for communication with other network devices. The processing unit is communicatively coupled to the interface unit and configured to receive, from a user equipment (UE) via the interface unit, a secondary Internet Protocol (IP) address for the UE, the secondary IP address being associated with a secondary network of the UE. The processing unit is also configured to initiate via the interface unit the establishment of at least one tunnel to bridge the network node and the UE via the secondary network.

Method and apparatus for improved dual connectivity

Embodiments are described herein to provide improvements to known network interference cancellation techniques. One general approach involves a first network node attempting () to decode a received signal which includes signaling from a first wireless device transmission and at least one interfering transmission. If the first network node is unsuccessful in attempting to decode the received signal, it is determined () whether it would be cost effective to obtain decoded signaling from a serving network node of a wireless device that corresponds to the at least one interfering transmission. If () it is determined to be cost effective, the decoded signaling that corresponds to the at least one interfering transmission is requested.

Various methods and devices are provided to address the need for improved mobile communications in heterogeneous networks. In one method, an anchor-cell transceiver node communicates with a mobile device via a primary link. The anchor-cell transceiver node conveys information for the mobile device to the mobile device by routing at least a portion of the information to the mobile device via a secondary-cell transceiver node.

Method and apparatus for improved mobile communications in heterogeneous wireless networks

Various methods and apparatuses are provided to address the need for improved multi-carrier communication. In one apparatus, a radio access network (RAN) () includes multiple network nodes () operative to transmit, via multiple carriers (-), packet data to a user element (UE) () using a protocol stack. The protocol stack includes a radio link control (RLC) layer split into an upper RLC processing layer and multiple lower RLC processing layers. Each lower RLC processing layer is associated with one carrier of the multiple carriers and each lower RLC processing layer supports packet data transmission via its associated carrier. In one example embodiment, a method for reducing an effect of an interference signal on data being transmitted over a communication channel includes determining, by a processor, a code word based on at least an information vector and an interference vector, the information vector representing the data, the interference vector representing the interference signal. The method further includes determining, by the processor, a code vector based on the determined code word. The method further includes generating, by the processor, a transmit vector based on the code vector and the interference vector.

Methods and apparatus for reducing interference effect on data transmitted over a communication channel

Example embodiments are directed to methods of reducing inter-cell interference in wireless networks using successive interference cancellation (SIC). Example embodiments use inter-cell cooperation between cells and/or sectors to successfully decode their associated users' data signals and pass on the decoded data signals to other cells/sectors in order to reduce inter-cell interference and allow for improved decoding of users' data signals. Example embodiments include passing the decoded data signals via the backhaul. Example embodiments also include static and dynamic ordering of user data signals in conjunction with the application of SIC.

The present invention provides a method of coordinating the downlink transmissions from a plurality of base stations to at least one mobile unit. The method is implemented in a control plane entity and includes receiving, at the control plane entity and from each of the plurality of base stations, channel state information for a plurality of wireless communication channels between the plurality of base stations and one or more mobile units. The method also includes determining, at the control plane entity and based on the channel state information, transmission formats for downlink transmissions from the plurality of base stations to the mobile unit(s). The method further includes providing the transmission formats to the plurality of base stations.

Architecture to support network-wide multiple-in-multiple-out wireless communication over a downlink

Systems and methods are disclosed for reusing resources of a wireless network. Radio communications resources of the wireless network are divided into partitions. A system described herein allows access to resources in the first partition by a first set of users for primary communications on the first partition, and allows access to resources in the first partition by a second set of users for secondary communications on the first partition. The control system also allows access to resources in the second partition by the second set of users for primary communications on the second partition, and allows access to resources in the second partition by the first set of users for secondary communications on the second partition.

Partitioning resources with soft reuse in a wireless network

In one embodiment, a method of transmitting includes assigning column vectors of a generalized orthogonal space time code matrix to coverage areas of a plurality of base stations such that each coverage area is assigned one column vector. The same data is transmitted from each of the plurality of base stations in the coverage areas such that the data transmitted in each coverage area is transmitted using the column vector assigned to the coverage area.
