An automated driving system (ADS) of an autonomous vehicle includes a communication module, a perception module, a misbehavior detection module, and a processor. The communication module is configured to receive a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) message comprising message-based vehicle data. The perception module configured to receive sensor data from at least one vehicle sensing device. The misbehavior detection module is configured to determine whether the V2V message is one of a legitimate message and a malicious message based at least in part on a comparison of the message-based vehicle data with sensor-based vehicle data generated based on the sensor data. The processor is configured to manage performance of the autonomous vehicle in accordance with the message-based vehicle data based on the determination. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Systems and methods for detecting misbehavior behavior at an autonomous driving system

An automated driving system (ADS) of an autonomous vehicle includes a communication module, a misbehavior detection module, and a processor. The communication module is configured to receive a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) message including source vehicle data and receive a fusion data message including fusion data from a mobile edge computing (MEC) system including a roadside unit (RSU). The source vehicle data includes a source vehicle location. The fusion data is based on RSU sensed data and on vehicle sensed data received at the RSU from at least one vehicle. The misbehavior detection module is configured to determine whether a source vehicle is disposed at the source vehicle location based on the fusion data. The processor is configured to manage performance of the autonomous vehicle in accordance with the source vehicle data based at least in part on the determination. Systems and methods for detecting misbehavior behavior based on fusion data at an autonomous driving system

A method in a vehicle includes receiving a vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) message transmitted from a communication system affixed to infrastructure at a location. The V2I message includes at least one category of information among a plurality of categories of information and the plurality of categories of information include map-based information and road safety information. The method also includes determining, based on performing at least one type of verification, whether a misbehavior has occurred with respect to the V2I message. The misbehavior indicates incorrect information in the V2I message. A counter is maintained of a number of times the misbehavior has occurred with respect to the V2I message at the location, and the misbehavior is reported based on the counter.

Detection and reporting of misbehavior in vehicle-to-infrastructure communication

Systems and method are provided for detecting an anomaly of a sensor of a vehicle. In one embodiment, a method includes: storing a plurality of sensor correlation groups based on vehicle dynamics; processing a subset of signals based on the sensor correlation groups to determine when an anomaly exists; processing the subset of signals based on the sensor correlation group to determine which sensor of the sensor correlation group is anomalous; and generating notification data based on the sensor of the correlation group that is anomalous.
