A counter of a primary memory module provides a count indicative of the number of times the primary memory module has ever been read/written by a processor. With the count, an operating mode of the primary memory module is evaluated to optimize memory allocation performed by the data processing system, adjust the operating mode of the primary memory module, and send a warning message to a user, for example.

Primary memory module with record of usage history

A multi-core processor system includes a first resource, a first core, a second resource, and a second core. The first core runs a first operating system (OS), and the first resource is allocated to the first OS. The second core runs a second OS, and the second resource is exclusively allocated to the second OS. The first OS and the second OS are designed for running at the same time, and the second OS is configured for monitoring or debugging the first resource, the first core, or the first OS.

The method includes the steps of: (a) calculating an operation cost of each of given M memory objects in each of N memory regions, M being an integer larger than 0, wherein the operation cost is a quantifiable parameter of a said memory region with respect to a said memory object operating therein; (b) determining an optimized allocation of the M memory objects in the N memory regions according to the calculated operation cost of each of the M memory objects in each of the N memory regions.

Memory control method for a computer system

Video-based handwriting input for biometric signature data collection is provided. The invention is implemented by finding all of the relative positions among all light points of light sources when all light sources mounted on a stylus are turned ON. An image is captured including effective strokes and digital data of pen pressure with a digital camera when a user writes on a writing surface with a stylus having a light source indicating x-y coordinates of strokes. The images are time-stamped. The stylus includes a micro-switch. When the stylus touches the writing surface, the micro-switch is turned on to let the light source indicating x-y coordinates of strokes turn ON and generate a light point. Effective stroke images and digital data of pen pressure are extracted by comparing the captured images with the light point on the stylus.

Video-based biometric signature data collection

Disclosed is a method and an apparatus, as well as a computer recording medium for handwriting input. The invention is implemented by capturing images including raw strokes with a digital camera and receiving writing sounds with a microphone, when a user writes on a writing surface with a stylus having a special mark (such as special color point or light point), said images and sounds are time-stamped; extracting images of raw stroke by comparing the captured images with the special mark on the stylus; and retrieving 'effective strokes' from the raw strokes by utilizing the received writing sounds. Moreover, the invention discloses a low cost, wireless method and apparatus for handwriting input which enables an user to write on a paper without a touch sensor provided for a computer system (such as Notebook and PDA etc.) equipped with an embedded digital camera.
