A coupling assembly for connecting first and second members of a helical pile system. A coupling member has a first opening at a first end and a second opening at a second end. A hollow protrusion extends outwardly from and axially along the outer surface of the coupling member. A fastener opening is disposed in the coupling member. A first member is fixedly receivable by the first opening of the coupling member. A second member has a rib disposed on an outer surface. The rib is receivable by the protrusion when the second member is received by the second opening of the coupling member. A fastener is receivable in the fastener opening. The fastener prevents withdrawal of the second member after being inserted in the coupling member.

Coupling assembly for helical pile system

A helical screw pile having a soil displacement device (lead displacement plate) on its shaft above at least one helical plate, which pulls the pile into the ground when the shaft is rotated. The lead displacement plate has a disk that carries at least two curved, axially extending bottom blades, which preferably extend beyond the disk periphery. The axial height of the blades preferably is greater than the axial pitch of the helical plate(s) divided by the number of blades. The top of the disk has an axially extending adapter ring that defines an annular seat for centering a tubular casing. Extension displacement plates can be used between extension shafts for centering additional tubular casings.

A ground anchor is provided for driving into the ground for anchoring or supporting a structure. The ground anchor includes a hub with a helical load bearing plate and a pointed ground engaging end having a body with a spade point blade extending axially from the body and the hub. The blade has first and second opposing spiral major faces and first and second transverse minor spiral faces that converge at a flat axial face to form the blade with a spiral configuration. The blade has a longitudinal dimension extending at an inclined angle with respect to a longitudinal center axis of the ground anchor so that the axial face of the blade is spaced outwardly from the center axis of the ground anchor. The leading edge of the spiral blade directs the soil to the leading edge of the helical plate of the ground anchor.

An improved transition coupling for a helical soil pile assembly transfers a compression load between two coupled shaft segments with little or no compression loading on the bolts that fasten the parts together. The coupling body has a shaft-receiving socket that extends axially into the body from one end to a socket bottom that axially abuts the end of one of the shafts. The body also has at least one shoulder between its ends that extends laterally outward and faces toward the end remote from the socket. A cylindrical portion of the body, which fits closely within the hollow end of the other shaft, extends axially toward the socket end up to the shoulder, which is adapted to abut the end of that shaft. At least one pair of aligned transverse holes in the body is adapted to receive a fastener.

A ground anchor is provided for driving into the ground for anchoring or supporting a structure. The ground anchor includes a hub with a helical load bearing screw and a pointed ground engaging end. The ground engaging end has a blade extending axially from the hub with first and second opposing major faces and first and second transverse faces that converge at the axial end to a flat axial face. The blade has one or more diagonal frangible portions to define a diagonal break line. The breakable portion of the ground anchor penetrates the ground and breaks away from the blade when a predetermined torque or stress is applied to the blade. The breakable portion breaks away to form a ground engaging end having a dimension and surface area that is larger than the original ground engaging end.

A drive tool for connecting a member to the drive tool of a drive tool assembly includes a flange connectable to the drive tool assembly. A wall has a first portion extending axially outwardly from the flange and defining a socket for receiving a first member. The wall has a second portion extending axially from the first portion of the wall and having a circumferential extent less than that of the first portion to facilitate receiving the first member by providing a laterally and axially open alignment opening. The first member can have a second portion extending axially further than a first portion and having a circumferential extent less than the first portion to facilitate connecting a second member to the first member by providing a laterally and axially open alignment opening.

An apparatus for lifting, stabilizing or enhancing load capacity of heavy objects, such as a building foundation and the like, is disclosed in which a bracket attaches to the object to be lifted and the bracket is then lifted using the apparatus which is supported by a pier or pile on an object or surface suitable for withstanding the weight of the object being lifted. The bracket includes side plates with interlocking side track pieces fitted therein to provide adequate support when under strain and also to assist in guiding the bracket in close cooperation with the pier during the lifting process.

A guy adapter includes a main body having first and second ends. A socket member is connected to the first end. An eye member is connected to the second end. A non-integral pulling eye is slidably mounted on the main body. The socket member is forged to the first end of the main body. A pulling eye is slidably disposed on the main body. The eye member is forged to the second end of the main body. Accordingly, the guy adapter is formed having a non-integral pulling eye slidably mounted thereon.

Apparatus and method for fibre channel distance extension embedded within an optical transport system

The invention provides an apparatus and method for transparently transporting four plesiochronous Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel or other packet-based data signals over a network. Multiple plesiochronous Gigabit Ethernet data streams are aggregated onto an independent clock source at an ingress circuit through the use of transparent IDLE character insertion. The independent clock is selected such that the output data rate is greater than the composite input data rate of all the plesiochronous data streams. The signals are encapsulated with forward error correction and mapped to a reciprocal FEC interface prior to transport. An egress circuit at the receiving end recovers the modulated signal and extracts the data stream. Each independent data stream is mapped to a local clock domain via IDLE character insertion or removal. Therefore, the input and output signals are transparent and identical in content.
