Antimicrobial compositions comprising aliphatic polyester, and an antimicrobial component effective for antimicrobial activity, and, in some embodiments, an enhancer. Example: blend of poly(lactic acid) polymer (55g) with propyleneglycol monolaurate antimicrobial component (9g), and benzoic acid enhancer (1g). Inventive resin compositions are effective against gram negative and gram positive bacteria, mold and mildew. Preferred compositions comprise materials that are GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe).

Biocompatible antimicrobial compositions

Pressure sensitive adhesives comprising an acrylate polymer and surface-modified nanoparticles are described. The surface-modified nanoparticles comprise a nanoparticle having a silica surface and surface modifying groups covalently attached to the silica surface. At least one surface-modifying group is a polymeric silane surface modifying group. At least one surface-modifying group is a non-polymeric silane surface modifying group. Methods of preparing such adhesives, including their exposure to UVA and UVC radiation are also described.

Pressure sensitive adhesives containing polymeric surface-modified nanoparticles

Disclosed is an adhesive composition comprising a low T(meth)acrylate copolymer component, a high T(meth)acrylate copolymer component, and a hydrogenated hydrocarbon tackifier. This disclosure provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive articles that are particularly useful in the bonding of low surface energy (LSE) substrates.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive composition

The present invention provides an adhesive made from a reaction product of: (a) a polymerizable monomer derived at least in part from non-petroleum resources; (b) an initiator; (c) a polymeric stabilizer, wherein the reaction occurs in water to yield a microsphere adhesive. The microsphere adhesive can be formulated into a pressure sensitive adhesive composition that can be applied to various substrates such as paper and polymeric film to produce repositionable adhesive coated articles such as tapes, notes, flags, easels and the like.

Microsphere pressure sensitive adhesive composition

A curable composition is described, including a gel material derived from the curable composition, and medical articles including such material, wherein the transparent gel material includes a polymerized monofunctional poly(alkylene oxide) macromonomer component and a surface modified nanoparticle component.

Cured hydrophilic compositions

A pre-adhesive composition is described comprising an acid-functional (meth)acrylate copolymer and a crosslinking system comprising an aziridine crosslinking agent and epoxy-functional (meth)acryloyl monomer, which when crosslinked, provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive articles.

Curable hydrophilic compositions

A polymerizable composition, comprising a first component comprising a cationic nanoparticle comprising a covalently bonded ammonium group, and a second component comprising an anionic polyether compound is described. Either the first component further comprises an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group, the second component further comprises an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable anion, or both. A method of making an article comprising applying the polymerizable composition to a surface of an article is also described.

Antimicrobial nanoparticles

A pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprising a 2-octyl (meth)acrylate/(meth)acrylic acid copolymer is described. The adhesive composition may be derived from renewable resources and provides good peel, shear and high temperature stability.

2-octyl (meth)acrylate adhesive composition

A photoactive compound that is the Michael addition reaction product of an aziridine compound and a photoinitiator-functional (meth)acrylate is described. The compound can be used to crosslink (meth)acrylic polymers via a hydrogen abstracting or an alpha-cleavage mechanism.

Aziridine-functional photoactive crosslinking compounds

A pre-adhesive composition is described comprising an acid-functional (meth)acrylate copolymer and an aziridine crosslinking agent, which when crosslinked provides a pressure-sensitive adhesive and pressure-sensitive adhesive articles.

Acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives with aziridine crosslinking agents

An adhesive composition comprising an emulsion polymer which comprises a (meth)acrylate copolymer, and aziridinyl silane and an optional silica particle component is described. The addition of the aziridinyl silane results in a significant increase in the shear properties, particularly at elevated temperatures.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive containing aziridinyl silanes

An adhesive composition comprising an emulsion polymer which comprises a (meth)acrylate copolymer and silica nanoparticles is described. The addition of the nanoparticles results in a significant increase in the overlap shear properties of the adhesive while maintaining the peel adhesion.

High shear pressure-sensitive adhesive

An adhesive composition comprising an emulsion polymer which comprises a (meth)acrylate copolymer and silica nanoparticles is described. The addition of the nanoparticles results in a significant increase in the overlap shear properties.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive containing silica nanoparticles

A pressure sensitive adhesive is described comprising an acrylate copolymer, silica nanoparticles and crosslinked by a polyfunctional aziridine crosslinking agent.
