In one embodiment, a radio altimeter tracking filter is provided. The filter comprises: a wireless radio interface; a processor coupled to the wireless radio interface; a memory coupled to the wireless radio interface; wherein the wireless radio interface is configured to wirelessly receive a radio altimeter signal and convert the radio altimeter signal to a baseband frequency signal, wherein the a radio altimeter signal sweeps across a first frequency spectrum between a first frequency and a second frequency; wherein the processor is configured to pass the baseband frequency signal through a filter executed by the processor, the filter comprising a passband having a first bandwidth, and wherein the filter outputs a plurality of spectral chirps in response to the baseband frequency signal passing through the first bandwidth; wherein the processor is configured to process the plurality of spectral chirps to output characteristic parameters that characterize the radio altimeter signal.

Systems and methods to synchronize wireless device nodes in the presence of a FMCW radio altimeter are provided. In one embodiment, a wireless device network comprises: a plurality of device nodes that share a radio frequency spectrum using time-division multiple accesses; a network synchronizing device in wireless communication with the plurality of device nodes, the network synchronizing device coupled to a timeslot allocation function, wherein the timeslot allocation function allocates to the network synchronizing device a timeslot on a first designated synchronization channel within the radio frequency spectrum; wherein the network synchronizing device broadcasts an arbitrary timeslot synchronization beacon to the plurality of device nodes on the first designated synchronization channel in the timeslot; wherein the arbitrary timeslot synchronization beacon comprises a Sync Timeslot identifier that identifies the timeslot, and a Sync Time indicator that includes a time that the arbitrary timeslot synchronization beacon was transmitted.

Systems and methods to synchronize wireless devices in the presence of a FMCW radio altimeter

Generally discussed herein are techniques, software, apparatuses, and systems configured for impedance matching. An impedance matching tuner can include a first tunable capacitor arranged in series with a radio frequency (RF) input, a second tunable capacitor arranged in shunt with the RF input, a third tunable capacitor and a first inductance device arranged in parallel with each other and in shunt with the RF input, and a fourth tunable capacitor and a second inductance device arranged in parallel with each other and in series with the RF input.

Impedance matching using tunable elements

A wireless device network comprises: an unsynchronized wireless device in a time division multiple access based system; and a cognitive master in communication with the device, wherein the master processor is configured to: determine a number of time slots required for the master to transmit a message to and receive a response from the device, each time slot is a portion of a radio frequency spectrum over a frame period; when the number of time slots required are consecutively available, broadcast an announcement message indicating start of discovery of the unsynchronized device; wherein the device processor is configured to: generate a response message including a device ID; and broadcast the response message to the master; wherein the master processor is configured to: generate a correction factor based on at least one of a master transmit time and a master received time; and broadcast the correction factor to the device.

Delay calculation in wireless systems

Auto-tunable antenna devices and methods of using the same are described herein. One method for tuning an antenna of a device includes comparing a reference phase of a reference signal to a return phase of a return signal of the antenna and sending a correction signal to a tunable circuit element of the antenna in response to the reference phase being out of phase with the return phase.

Generally discussed herein are techniques, software, apparatuses, and systems configured for tuning an antenna. In one or more embodiments, a system can include a monopole or dipole antenna, a hardware processor electrically coupled to the monopole or dipole antenna, an amplitude or power detector electrically coupled between the monopole or dipole antenna and the processor to receive signals reflected from the monopole or dipole antenna and determine an amplitude or power of the reflected signals, and a first impedance matching network electrically connected between a feed point of the monopole or dipole antenna and the detector, the first impedance matching network including a variable capacitor, the variable capacitor having a variable capacitance that is set by the hardware processor based on the amplitude or power of the reflected determined by the amplitude or power detector.

In one embodiment, a wireless device network comprises: a plurality of device nodes using TDMA, the plurality of device nodes configured to transmit during a future TDMA frame of communication on channels having timeslots; and a timeslot allocation function comprising a processor and a memory, the processor configured to: receive signal characterization data characterizing a radio altimeter signal; using the signal characterization data, predict a frequency of the radio altimeter signal during the future TDMA frame of communication; identify conflicting timeslots for respective channels, wherein the predicted frequency of the radio altimeter signal overlaps with the respective channels during conflicting timeslots; and transmit a TDMA timeslot allocation, for wireless communications during the future TDMA frame of communication, to the plurality of device nodes, the TDMA timeslot allocation including non-conflicting timeslots where the predicted frequency of the radio altimeter signal does not overlap with the respective channels during non-conflicting timeslots.

Generally discussed herein are techniques, software, apparatuses, and systems configured for tuning an antenna. In one or more embodiments, a method can include sending, by processing circuitry, one or more signals to an antenna tuner to sweep the tuner through a plurality of tuner states, determining a plurality of power values, each power value corresponding to a signal received from an antenna and each power value corresponding to the tuner being in a state of the plurality of tuner states, and sending one or more signals to the tuner to set the tuner to a tuner state of the plurality of tuner states, the tuner state determined using the determined powers.

Motion de-blurring systems and methods are described herein. One motion de-blurring system includes an image sensing element, one or more motion sensors in an imaging device, a lens element that undergoes motion during a capture of an image by the sensing element, and a de-blurring element to de-blur the image captured by the sensing element via de-convolving a Point Spread Function (PSF).

Motion deblurring

A wireless communication system comprises one or more control units operable to transmit control signals, a plurality of actuators responsive to the control signals, and a plurality of sensors operable to transmit sensor data used by the one or more control units in generating the control signals. Each of the sensors, actuators, and one or more control units are located at a fixed position in the system relative to one another. Each of the plurality of sensors and each of the plurality of actuators are coupled to at least one of the one or more control units via a plurality of wireless paths. Each of the plurality of sensors are operable to transmit the sensor data in an assigned time slot to at least one of the one or more control units over a plurality of wireless channels in each of the plurality of wireless paths. The number of channels in each of the plurality of wireless paths is determined based, at least in part, on a worst-case estimate of potential interference, and each of the plurality of sensors is operable to pseudo-randomly switch the plurality of channels over which the sensor data is transmitted.

Wireless networks for highly dependable applications

Techniques are described for sensing a position of an object located within an enclosure over a position range. The techniques include generating an expected output signal of each of a plurality of magnetic field sensors disposed along an outer surface of the enclosure, receiving actual output signals from the sensors, wherein each actual output signal indicates a relative proximity of a magnetic target coupled to the object to the corresponding sensor. The techniques further include superimposing the expected output signal over the actual output signals, and iteratively shifting the expected output signal over position relative to the actual output signals and comparing the shifted expected output signal to the actual output signals, until the expected output signal compared to the actual output signals corresponds to a substantially minimized error parameter. The position of the object may then be determined based at least in part on the shifted expected output signal.

Techniques for calibrating a linear position sensor

In general, the disclosure is directed to techniques for determining the position of a piston within a linear actuator, such as a hydraulic cylinder, in a more cost effective and less labor-intensive fashion compared to current techniques for determining the position of a piston within a linear actuator. One or more magnets may be operably coupled to the piston, and a linear array of sensors may be disposed along an exterior length of the linear actuator. The sensors may measure the magnetic field generated by the magnet and, based on the measured magnetic field, may determine the location of the piston within the linear actuator.
