A woven panel for a computing device includes a woven pattern having a repeat size of greater than 25 cm by 25 cm. The woven pattern has a thread density of at least 25 threads by 25 threads per square cm. The woven panel is integrated to a computing device and is tailored to the specifics of the computing device, thereby improving the visual aesthetic and the tactile feel of the computing device.

Examples are disclosed that relate to mapping a plurality of temperatures across an area. One example provides a temperature sensing device including a flexible support and a temperature sensing structure having a plurality of individually readable temperature sensing junctions. The temperature sensing structure includes a line of a first conductive material extending across an area of the support, and a plurality of lines of a second conductive material each intersecting the line of the first junction material at a corresponding sensing junction.

Mapping temperatures across a surface

Examples are disclosed that relate to touch-sensitive input devices, systems, and methods for providing user input to a computing device. In one example, a touch-sensitive input device comprises an elongated body and a plurality of force-sensing elements spaced along a length of the body. The touch-sensitive input device also comprises a wireless communication subsystem configured to communicatively couple the input device to the computing device and provide signals from the plurality of force-sensing elements to the computing device.

Examples are disclosed herein that relate to electronically functional textile articles. One example provides a knitted textile article comprising a first conductive thread and a second conductive thread knit into the article in such a manner as to form a conductive junction separated by a gap. The knitted textile article further comprises a knitted surface texture feature formed at a location that defines an opening over the gap, and an electronic component connecting the gap to form a circuit with the first conductive thread and the second conductive thread.

Electronic functionality in textiles

A method for manufacturing fabric that passes colonnaded light is described herein. The method includes weaving a first yarn and a second yarn to create a woven fabric and weaving a light emitting yarn through the woven fabric, wherein the light emitting yarn creates a plurality of loops of light emitting yarn on at least one side of the woven fabric. The method also includes finishing the woven fabric to create columns of light emitting yarn throughout the fabric by removing the plurality of loops.

A yarn adaptable to incorporation into a textile comprises a core including one or more electrically conductive traces arranged on the core and distributed over at least a portion of the length of the yarn. The yarn also comprises an electrically contactable terminal arranged at a terminus of the one or more conductive traces and a winding wrapped around the core.

A headphone device having an earcup that is configured to form a portion of an acoustic assembly of a headphone device. The earcup includes a seamless three-dimensional cover. The cover is formed from a continuous fabric of interlocking yarn. The cover can include portions having different performance characteristics, such as acoustic properties and/or comfort properties, that can be provided using different knit patterns and/or different fabric materials.

Conductive wires or traces woven into a textile article as a warp or weft yarn are limited in directionality and beginning and end points. The presently disclosed woven electronic textiles permit electrical traces to begin and end at specific points within an interior of the textile and for runs of the electrical traces to extend continuously at any desired angle and connecting any number of specific points across a textile surface. Such electrical traces are referred to herein as point-to-point conductive traces.

Examples are disclosed that relate to haptic actuators. One disclosed example provides a haptic actuator including an inductive coil, a layer of a compressible material positioned adjacent to the inductive coil and transverse to an axis of the inductive coil, and a magnet positioned on the layer of compressible material such that the magnet is movable relative to the inductive coil via compression of the layer of the compressible material upon application of a control signal to the inductive coil. Another example provides an article including a textile formed at least partially from a yarn including a core and a conductor wound around the core to form an inductive coil, and a magnetic object integrated with the textile at a position transverse to a direction of a magnetic field formed by the inductive coil.

Electromagnetically actuating a haptic feedback system

Examples are disclosed that relate to electronically functional yarns. One example provides an electronically functional yarn comprising a core, a sheath at least partially surrounding the core, and an electronic circuit formed on the core. The circuit includes three or more control lines and more than three diode-containing circuit elements controllable by the three or more control lines, each circuit element being controllable via a corresponding set of two of the three or more control lines.

Examples disclosed herein relate to using optical fibers in a textile to channel light from a light source to various exit locations within the textile. One example provides an optical device, comprising a light source, an optical fiber extending from the light source, the optical fiber configured to conduct light received from the light source via internal reflection, and a plurality of individually controllable light-emitting locations disposed along the optical fiber.
