The invention relates to a process for preparing particles of polyphenylene sulfide polymer (PPS), based on the use of a polyester polymer (PE) comprising units from a dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component, wherein at least 2 mol. % of the diol component is a poly(alkylene glycol). The process comprises the melt-blending of the PPS with the PE, the cooling the blend and the recovery of the particles by dissolution of the PE into water. The present invention relates to PPS particles obtained therefrom and to the use of these particles in SLS 3D printing, coatings and toughening of thermoset resins.

Process for preparing particles of polyphenylene sulfide polymer

Described herein are end-capped poly(aryl ether sulfone) ('PAES') polymers and corresponding synthesis methods. The end-capped PAES polymers are end-capped by functionalizing a PAES polymer with a halophthalic diialkyl ester end-capping agent. It was surprisingly discovered that the resulting dialkyl phthalate end-capped PAES polymers could be synthesized with significantly improved end-capping conversion rates, relative to end-capped PAES polymers directly functionalized with traditional phthalic anhydride end-capping agents. It was also surprisingly found that by heating the isopropyl phthalate end-capped PAES polymers, the polymers could be converted to the corresponding phthalic anhydride end-capped PAES polymers, yielding a more efficient synthetic route to phthalic anhydride end-capped PAES polymers.

Described here are blocky PEEK copolymers and corresponding synthesis methods. It was surprisingly found that synthesis of blocky PEEK copolymers in a non-solvent environment with respect to PEEK produced blocky PEEK copolymers with high degrees of functionalization and crystallinity. The blocky PEEK copolymers had an increased blocky structure, relative to corresponding PEEK copolymer synthesized with other known methods. Moreover, membranes formed from the blocky PEEK polymers are particularly desirable in fuel cell applications. For example, the membranes formed from the blocky PEEK polymers had surprisingly large ion conductivities as well as significantly improved chemical and thermal resistance, at least in part, to the improved functionalization and crystallinity.

A wound dressing system comprising a wrap and a frangible ampoule is provided. The wrap is configured to contact/surround a wound site and includes an oxygen catalyst. The ampoule includes an oxygen precursor. The catalyst and precursor are configured to form oxygen when combined. A wound dressing system including a container is also provided that includes a powder, wrap, and frangible ampoule. The powder is disposed within the container, which is configured to allow the powder to be dispersed onto a wound site when activated. The wrap, which may include an oxygen catalyst, is also disposed in the container and is configured to contact/surround the wound site. The ampoule, also disposed in the container, includes a liquid containing an oxygen precursor. The liquid is configured to contact the wrap when the container is activated. Further, the catalyst and precursor are configured to form oxygen when combined.

Absorbent articles incorporating a wetness sensor for indicating the presence of a body fluid are disclosed. The wetness sensor includes an olfactory signaling device that produces a scent or odor when a body fluid is detected. For instance, in one embodiment, an odorous composition can be contained in a water degradable pouch that releases the odorous composition when contacted with moisture. Once released, the odorous composition can produce a desired scent. In other embodiments, the odorous composition can be encapsulated within a water degradable material or can be coated on a substrate. The scent or odor that is released by the odorous composition can vary depending upon the particular application. The scent, for instance, may be pleasant or unpleasant. In one embodiment, the olfactory signaling device may be used to assist in toilet training a child.

A wet wipe comprises a nonwoven material. The nonwoven material comprises a fibrous material and a binder composition. The binder composition includes a cationic ion-sensitive emulsion polymer, which can comprise the emulsion polymerization product of at least one hydrophobic monomer which has been stabilized by a solution-polymerization-derived cationic ion-sensitive polymer stabilizer. In some aspects, a solution-polymerization-derived cationic ion-sensitive polymer binder can be solution blended with the already-formed cationic ion-sensitive emulsion polymer to provide additional benefits. In other aspects, the solution-polymerization-derived cationic ion-sensitive polymer binder is the same as the s-solution-polymerization-derived cationic ion-sensitive polymer stabilizer.

The present invention is directed to ion-sensitive, hard water dispersible polymers. The present invention is also directed to a method of making ion-sensitive, hard water dispersible polymers and their applicability as binder compositions. The present invention is further directed to fiber-containing fabrics and webs comprising ion-sensitive, hard water dispersible binder compositions and their applicability in water dispersible personal care products.

A substrate that contains an exothermic coating is provided. More specifically, the exothermic coating includes one or more components (e.g., carbon, oxidizable metal, moisture-retaining particles, etc.) that are durably adhered to the substrate. To provide the desired durability, the exothermic coating includes the combination of a certain amount of a polymer latex and polysaccharide. When appropriately selected and incorporated into the exothermic coating, the present inventors have discovered that these components may interact synergistically to improve binding capacity.
