A LED based illumination source with integrated communications and processing functions, which can communicate via wireless communications to a mobile phone, smart phone, smart pad, key fob, notebook, tablet, desktop or other computing device. The LED based illumination source can be operated from a back-up battery source in the event that power is disrupted, can be programmed to operate autonomously, and is able to alter its behavior, based on the proximity of a controlling element. The communications and processing functions can be integrated into LED lighting household and commercial illumination devices, as well as electrical devices, such as wall outlets, light switches, plug in timers, appliances, and the like.

An LED light bulb with integrated power supply, and which may incorporate integrated communications and processing functions. The LED light bulb is designed to be efficiently manufactured in mass quantities using automated assembly techniques, and is constructed to exhibit the spatial light pattern of a regular incandescent bulb as closely as possible. Where communications and processing functions are integrated, the LED light bulb is able to communicate via wireless communications to a mobile phone, notebook, tablet, or other computing device.

Methods and systems for enabling coexistence of multiple potentially interfering wireless components in a device are provided. A device may include a wireless module using a proprietary protocol and one or more modules using standardized protocols. The device further includes a coexistence arbitration module configured to arbitrate access to a shared communication medium among the wireless modules based on assertion of medium access requests by the modules and the associated priority of the asserted medium access requests. When multiple medium access requests have the same priority, precedence for access to the shared medium is determined based on additional criteria. The coexistence arbitration module may be a separate module or may be integrated into another module or distributed among the modules. The device may include a host processor for altering transmission characteristics of a module to increase the likelihood that another module can receive data within a reasonable time period.

The present disclosure is directed to systems, apparatuses, and methods for wirelessly delivering multi-channel audio over a packet based network with tight synchronization, high fidelity, and/or low delay as described above. The systems can include a source device that provides multi-channel audio to a distributor device, which wirelessly distributes the multi-channel audio over the packet based network to audio rendering devices, referred to as 'sink' devices. The distributor device and the sink devices each include a playback clock that is used to read audio samples of the multi-channel audio from a local memory and drive a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) coupled to a speaker to render the audio samples.
