The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition comprising guacatonga extract (), aroeira extract (-) and cosmetically acceptable adjuvants, for preventing and/or treating signs of skin aging. It further relates to the use of guagatonga extract () and aroeira extract () in the preparation of a cosmetic composition for preventing and/or treating signs of skin aging, as well as the use of this composition for simultaneously increasing tropoelastin, increasing the lysyl exidase (LOX) enzyme and reducing the activity of elastase in the dermis. The invention relates to a method of preventing and/or treating signs of skin aging, which comprises applying said cosmetic composition to the skin. Finally, the invention relates to a method of preparing said composition according to the present invention.

The present invention relates to a process for obtaining polysaccharides from jatoba seeds, comprising the steps of: a) seed processing (dry process); b) aqueous extraction at 1% to 5% of powder mass per volume, preferably 2% of powder mass per volume; c) precipitation with ethanol 969GL using 1 to 3 times the aqueous extract volume; d) press filtration of the precipitate obtained in (c); e) solublization of the polysaccharides obtained in step (d) with water; and f) drying the polysaccharides obtained in step (e). In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a cosmetic composition containing polysaccharides obtained according to the process defined above and to the use of said polysaccharides.

It is disclosed a skin clarifying complex comprising gallic acid and linoleic acid. It is further provided that the gallic acid can be obtained fromsp and the linoleic acid can be obtained from passion flower oil. It is further disclosed the cosmetic or pharmaceutical use of the clarifying complex and a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprising 0.25 to 10%, by weight, of said clarifying complex. The present application describes an antioxidant complex having a synergistic effect between its ingredients. Said mixture comprises: a) vitamin E and/or derivatives thereof; b) green tea extract and/or derivatives thereof; and c) cacao extract. Examples of cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions comprising said antioxidant complex and a physiologically acceptable carrier are also described. The antioxidant complex of the present invention, as well as the aforementioned compositions, aid in preventing and protecting against cell and skin damages resulting from the action of free radicals, and also provide DNA, protein and cell membrane protection.
