A method of making an array () of aberrated optical elements (). The method comprises the steps of providing a substrate having a first surface with forming elements thereon, and controlled working a localized region on the first surface of the substrate. The controlled working is of a magnitude sufficient to aberrate one or more of the forming elements in an affected site surrounding the localized region.

Method of making an array of aberrated optical elements

A method of making a microneedle array structure () comprising a plurality of simultaneously formed microneedles (), each microneedle () having a protrusion () and a passageway () extending therethrough. The method comprises the steps of pressing an embossable sheet material between a complimentary tools and radiantly heating the sheet material using radiant energy from a radiant energy source. One tool is relatively-radiantly-transparent, and another tool and/or the sheet material is relatively-radiantly-absorptive.

Method of making microneedles

Retroreflective sheeting () comprising a retroreflecting layer (), which has an array of retroreflective elements () formed thereon, and a divergence-enhancing layer () which is positioned in front of the retroreflecting layer (). The divergence-enhancing layer () has localized aberration regions () which change the divergence of light traveling therethrough. The placement of the localized aberration regions () relative to the retroreflective elements () broadens the divergence range of the sheeting ().

Retroreflective sheeting

A retroreflective sheeting () comprising a cube layer () having a front light-receiving surface () and a rear retroreflecting surface (), and a metallic layer () covering the rear retroreflecting surface (). The rear surface () comprises an array of retroreflective elements () and diffusing patches () within such array (without retroreflective elements ()). The metallic layer () covers the retroreflective elements () and the diffusing patches (), whereby diffusing patches () scatter incoming light increasing daytime brightness to a desired level.
