A pharmaceutical composition for treatment of cancer in an animal comprising: (A) a therapeutically effective amount of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the General Formula (I). ##STR1## wherein Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2, which may be the same or different, each represents an atomic group necessary to form a 5- or 6-membered ring; R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group or an aryl group; L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 each represents a methine group or a substituted methine group; X represents a pharmaceutically acceptable anion; k represents a number necessary for electrical charge balance; n represents 0 or 1; and (B) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluent.

A novel color image recording method is provided, which comprises exposing to light a light-sensitive material obtained by dispersing a composition containing at least a photopolymerization initiator, a color image-forming substance and a polymerizable compound in a hydrophilic binder and then coating said dispersion on a support, subjecting said polymerizable compound in the exposed portions to polymerization, and then (a) eluting said color image-forming substance contained in the unpolymerized polymerizable compound in the unexposed portions with an alkaline aqueous solution or (b) subjecting said color image-forming substance contained in the unpolymerized polymerizable compound in the unexposed portions to chemical change so that it is discolored, thereby forming dye images.

A method for forming an image by silver salt diffusion transfer is described, comprises processing an imagewise exposed photosensitive element provided with a layer of photosensitive silver halide emulsion on a support, and an image-receiving element provided with an image-receiving layer containing a silver-precipitating agent on a support, with an alkali processing composition in the presence of a silver halide solvent, to convert at least part of the unexposed silver halide in the emulsion layer into a transferable silver complex salt, to transfer at least part of said complex salt into the image-receiving layer, and to form an image in the image-receiving layer; the processing being carried out in the presence of at least one compound as described.

A radiation responsive composition containing a compound represented by the following formula (I) and a photoreducing agent capable of forming a redox couple together with said compound for many uses, e.g., image formation, etching, plating, etc.: ##STR1## wherein N represents a nitrogen atom; X represents an oxygen atom (--O--), a sulfur atom (--S--), or a nitrogen-containing group of formula, ##STR2## R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each represents a mere bond, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aryl, heterocyclic, acyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or carbamoyl group, or a sulfonyl group into which a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group has been introduced, provided that at least one of the substituents R.sup.1 to R.sup.3 be a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or heterocyclic group and that two or more of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, or of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 when X represents a nitrogen containing group of formula, ##STR3## may be taken together to form a ring; UG represents a group to be released from said compound of formula (I) taking advantage of the N--X bond cleavage as a trigger, which takes place when a redox couple is formed between said compound of formula (I) and the photoreducing agent irradiated with radiant rays; and the solid lines represent bonds, while broken lines indicate that a bond may or may not be present, but at least one of the broken lines forms a bond.

A light-sensitive element for the diffusion transfer process which comprises a support having thereon a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a yellow dye providing compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein CAR represents a carrier moiety which is capable of releasing a diffusible dye from the compound in correspondence or counter-correspondence to development under alkaline conditions; Link represents a group connecting CAR with a diffusible dye; m represents 0 or 1; the dotted lines mean that at least one of the dotted lines is a bond; R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aryloxycarbonyl group or a carbamoyl group; R.sup.2 represents an alkyl group or an aryl group; and R.sup.3 represents an aryl group excepting an aryl group having the Hammett's .sigma..sub.p value less than 0.01. The yellow dye providing compound has a dye moiety whose transferability is high and whose hue is excellent and provides a stable yellow dye image which does not substantially change hue over a wide pH range.

In a preferred embodiment, R.sup.1 represents an aromatic group, heterocyclic group or group represented by --Y.sup.1 --R.sup.5 in which Y.sup.1 represents a hetero atom or hetero atomic group and R.sup.5 represents hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group. R.sup.2 represents an acyl group, carbamoyl group, alkoxycarbonyl group, cyano group, sulfonyl group or nitro group. R.sup.1 is a group represented by --Y.sup.1 --Y.sup.2 --R.sup.6 in which Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 each represents a hetero atom or hetero atomic group and may be the same or different and R.sup.6 represents hydrogen atom, an aliphatic group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group.
