A method of treating a gas phase fluidized bed reactor and a method of polymerizing olefins in a gas phase fluidized bed reactor in the presence of a catalyst prone to cause sheeting by introducing a chromium-containing compound into the reactor and forming a high molecular weight polymer coating on the walls of the reactor. Furthermore, a device for and method of introducing the chromium-containing compound into the fluidized bed reactor at a plurality of locations in proximity to a lower section of a bed section wall of the fluidized bed reactor, and forming a high molecular weight polymer coating on the bed section wall.

A method for treating at least one interior surface (for example, a bed wall) of a fluidized bed polymerization reactor system, including by applying a solution catalyst (preferably at least substantially uniformly and in liquid form) to each surface, and optionally (where a catalyst component of the solution catalyst comprises at least one chromium containing compound) oxidizing at least some of the applied chromium containing compound in a controlled manner.

Films and methods of forming films comprising first combining in a reactor olefins, a catalyst composition and an activator; wherein the activator is present from less than 50 wt % in a diluent by weight of the activator and diluent; followed by isolating a polyolefin having a density of from 0.940 to 0.980 g/cm; and finally, extruding the polyolefin into a film having a gel count of less than 200 gels/m.

A gas phase polymerization process for producing a polyolefin composition is described, which includes passing a gaseous stream containing hydrogen gas and one or more monomers, including ethylene monomers, through a reactor that includes a fluidized bed, under reactive conditions, in the presence of a catalyst that includes metallocene, to provide a polyolefin composition, wherein in one embodiment the fluidized bulk density is 60% or more of the settled bulk density (or, a voidage of 40% or less); and wherein the voidage is controlled by a number of factors including, in certain embodiments, (a) the reactor temperature being maintained at 100&deg; C. or below; (b) the molar ratio of hydrogen gas to ethylene introduced into the reactor being 0.015 or below.
