A multi-factor authentication access control system is described for permitting access to secured locations. Types of authentication factors include property or physical-based items and biometric-based information. Optionally, the biometric information presented by the person is evaluated for being a presentation attack. Exemplary embodiments are directed to controlling door access.

A presentation attack detection system includes RGB and thermal imaging cameras for acquiring images of an individual and a processor operable to determine a metric for whether the individual is a real human based on the thermal imaging and RGB image data. Related methods are also described.

Thermal based presentation attack detection for biometric systems

A fast face capture system and process for identifying an individual as the individual walks through a designated area is described. A set of raw images is streamed from at least one camera for detecting individuals entering the designated area. The images are searched for a face. If a face is detected, a tracking ID is assigned; and a timer and face tracking is commenced to obtain a sequence of candidate images for each individual as the individual walks through the designated area. A maximum quality image is selected from the sequence of candidate images for each individual based on at least one quality metric, the elapsed time, and the quality select count in the sequence of the candidate images. The maximum quality image is submitted for matching with a verified image of the person. The invention has particular application to security check points for quickly matching the face of the moving person with a previously acquired and verified identity.

Fast face image capture system

Systems and methods are provided for identifying customers aboard a cruise ship for provision of products and location access and for embarkation or disembarkation. Systems can include a data store on the cruise ship storing customer profiles of customers, a plurality of networked computing devices including image capture devices, and a processor in communication with the data store and the networked computing devices. The processor receives access requests in conjunction with images of the requestors, uses facial recognition software algorithms to identify the requestor as a customer entitled to the requested access, based on facial recognition data stored for the customer, and causes access to be granted to the customer. Confidence levels of facial recognition results may be improved by combining initial facial recognition results with additional cruise-specific information associated with customers.

Facial recognition system and methods for identity credentialing and personalized services

Methods and systems describe calculating an estimated focal point for a feature of interest within an ocular area of a subject using acquired test images and focal points. A curve is approximately fit to the defocus measurements located at different focal points. A maximum of the curve is identified that corresponds to an estimated focal point of the subject's iris. An image capture device can then record an approximately focused image of the iris using the estimated focal point. This reduces the time and computing resources needed to capture an image iris that is in focus where the subject may be located at a variable, unknown standoff distance. These methods and systems can be used for biometric identification using iris imaging, among other applications where quickly focusing an imaging system is advantageous.

Focusing method for optically capturing an iris image

A method and system for computer-aided detection of abnormal lesions in digital mammograms is described, wherein digital films are processed using an automated and computerized method of detecting the order and orientation of a set of films. In one embodiment, anatomic features are used to detect the order, orientation and identification of a film series. In another embodiment of the invention, a technologist feeds films into the system in any order and orientation. After processing, the system provides an output on a display device to a radiologist that is in an order and orientation preferred by the radiologist. In yet another embodiment of the invention, films from one case are distinguished from films of another case. In this manner and through the use of a bulk loader, a large number of films can be stacked together and fed into the system at one time.

Method and system for automatic identification and orientation of medical images

Methods, systems, and related computer program products for computer-aided detection (CAD) of anatomical abnormalities in digital (or digitized) x-ray mammograms are described. The inventive techniques are based on using a foundational CAD processing algorithm that is characterized by at least one of non-shift-invariance, non-rotational-invariance, and non-inversional-invariance. According to one preferred embodiment, a first x-ray mammogram image of a breast is received, and at least one altered version thereof is generated that differs therefrom by at least one of image shift, image rotation, and image inversion. The first x-ray mammogram image and each of the at least one altered versions thereof are individually processed using the foundational CAD algorithm to generate a respective plurality of individual CAD detection sets. The plurality of CAD detection sets are then compared to generate an overall CAD detection set.

Reducing false positives in computer-aided detection

A review workstation for facilitating interpretation of a medical image by a user is described. The review workstation comprises a display device displaying the medical image to the user, and an input device receiving a graphical identification of a region of interest (ROI) in the medical image that is interesting to the user. Responsive to the identification of the ROI, a content-based image comparison is performed between the ROI and a resource database, the resource database comprising a collection of resource images previously analyzed by human interpreters and textual information associated with those previous analyses. The content-based image comparison comprises identifying a subset of the resource images similar to the ROI with respect to a preselected set of computed features. The display device subsequently displays to the user at least one of the identified subset of resource images and its associated textual information simultaneously with the ROI.

A method and apparatus for providing testing a computer aided diagnosis (CAD)-based system comprising receiving radiological image of a patient acquired using at least one piece of radiological equipment at least partially controlled by a technologist, the patient being controlled by the technologies relative to the radiological equipment in acquiring said radiological image. The method further comprising processing the radiological image by computer to test the radiological image to determine if the image meets a preselected standard relating to at least one of: technologist control of the patient relative to the radiological equipment during the image acquisition and technologist preparation of the radiological equipment for the image acquisition, wherein said preselected standard relating to technologist control of the patient relative to the radiological equipment during the image acquisition relates to one of (a) proper placement of anatomical part of the patient relative to a detector of the radiological equipment, and (b) controlling movement of the anatomical part of the patient relative to the detector during image acquisition. The method further comprising recording the results of the testing in a manner that associates said results with said technologist for facilitating evaluation of a performance of said technologist.
