The manipulation and control of entangled particle and entangled photon properties by means of low loss interaction free quantum means is vital for studying the fundamentals of entanglement and for future applications in distributed quantum information processing, sensing and imaging. Despite its importance, achieving low loss interaction free manipulation and control of entanglement is difficult, particularly with pulsed networked systems with quantum properties changing in space and time and with intervening absorbing elements. This invention uses low loss quantum interaction free techniques and designs that can be miniaturized to efficiently and robustly send and receive quantum information and data using pulsed and continuous origin temporal and polarization entangled particles and entangled photons. The invention may be used to improve quantum communication of information and quantum networking in fiber optics, turbulent and scattering media, and free space.

System and method for communication of information using interaction free entangled particles and entangled photons

Measurement of entangled photon quantum wavefunction properties is vital for studying the fundamentals of entanglement and for future applications in quantum communications, quantum metrology, quantum sensing and imaging. Despite its importance, measuring the wavefunction is difficult, particularly in pulsed and other systems with system features and wavefunctions changing in space and time. This invention uses ghost imaging techniques to directly measure the entangled photon wavefunction of pulsed origin temporal and polarization entangled photons. The invention may be used to improve wavefunction quality after propagation through turbulent or scattering media.

System and method for measurement of entangled photons wavefunctions

Modulated entangled photon pairs are used to transmit data between a sender and receiver subsystem. The sender subsystem comprises at least one data input, a modulator to modulate the photons, a photon combiner and a transmitter coupler to direct the modulated entangled photon pairs towards a receiver. The receiver subsystem comprises a receiver coupler, a photon de-combiner to direct the photons to polarization analyzers to transmit photons of a specified polarization to detectors, and a processor to record the information transmitted by the detectors. The sender subsystem transmits information to the receiver subsystem through the modulation of the entangled photon state. The present system and method is quantum which provides advantages over classical and optical communications. These advantages include using less power to transmit information, and allowing transmission through and around obstructions and adverse environments.

According to some embodiments, system and methods for image improvement comprise: receiving a plurality of frames of a given region of interest, the frames comprised of a plurality of pixels; determining, based on a quantum property of the frames, a normalized pixel intensity value for each pixel of each of the plurality of frames; and generating an improved image of the given region of interest based on the plurality of frames and the corresponding normalized pixel intensity values for the frames, the order of the image being two. Also embodiments for generating an image of a target illuminated by quantum entangled particles, such as, photons, are disclosed.

A method and system for forming an improved image from a series of frames comprising inputting a pixel value array for each image frame; summing the pixel values in each frame to obtain the frame intensity for each frame; multiplying the pixels in pixel value array by the frame intensity; summing the frame intensity multiplied pixel value arrays together and dividing by the number of frames to obtain an average of the frame intensity multiplied pixel value arrays; then, using the inputted pixel value arrays, creating an array of average pixel values; multiplying the array of average pixel values by the average frame intensity for all of the inputted frames; and subtracting the array of average pixel values multiplied by average frame intensity from the average of the frame intensity multiplied pixel value arrays to provide an array of modified pixel values to form an improved image.
