A vena cava filter is described, having one or more frame members or an elongated member arranged in helical fashion. A plurality of filaments connect frame members or portions of the elongated member. The filaments may be made of suture material. Hooks may be placed on a free end of the filaments, along the length thereof, or on one or more frame members to engage the blood vessel wall and anchor the filter. A retrieval member may be positioned on the filter to facilitate withdrawal of the filter from the blood vessel.

An adjustable vascular graft with a user-customizable reduced inner diameter is provided. The graft includes a flexible tubular body having open ends and a plurality of receivers in a sidewall thereof, which may be arranged in two circumferentially spaced rows of receivers. The receivers may take the form of ringlets, eyelets, loops, or holes, which may be provided in a reinforced region of the graft sidewall, and which may be radiopaque. A suture passes through the plurality of receivers, the suture having first and second free ends capable of being pulled, and which suture may also be radiopaque. Tensioning or tightening the first and second ends of the suture reduces an inner diameter of the corresponding portion of the tubular body of the graft, thereby allowing for the custom reduced inner diameter and a resulting flow restriction to be provided. Related methods are also disclosed.

A new hair treatment device is provided for providing lift at the root portion of the hair near the scalp to thereby create volume and body to otherwise limp or flat hair. An embodiment of such a device includes first and second arms. A pivot movably joining the arms about the pivot is provided wherein each arm includes a hair-engaging surface. A heat source is provided for at least one of the hair-engaging surfaces. Each hair-engaging surface has a width suitable for treating a portion of the hair proximate the head, wherein by treating a portion of hair near the scalp, it provides lift and body to the head of hair. A method for adding lift to a head of hair using a hair crimping tool includes the steps of selecting hair from a head of hair for treatment; and using the tool to treat at least one portion of the selected hair proximate the roots of the hairs.
