A manufacturing execution system (MES) that provides tools for modeling and determining information about physical production lines made up of arrangements of entities. The MES includes configuration tools for modeling the entities in a physical production line. The MES also includes configuration tools for modeling the physical production line. Entity data models and line data models conform to the data structure of respective model templates. Line data models include line definition models and line layout models. Line layout models include an entity link model for each of the entities in the physical production line. The MES includes tools for dynamically determining the bottleneck for the physical production line. Other production metrics are also calculated using the MES.

Line management in manufacturing execution system

A manufacturing execution system (MES) for providing an indication of the performance of the line. The MES includes a configuration module for modeling entities and lines containing the entities. The MES also includes a runtime module configured to determine the entities on the line whose production can be extrapolated to evaluate the performance of the line. In some cases, the MES determines which of the entities on the line limits the performance of the line; in other cases, the MES determines which of the entities has a production amount that best represents that of the line. The MES is operatively connected to field inputs associated with the entities that provide production data for the entities. Using the production data for the entities chosen to represent the line, the MES generates production metrics representative of the performance of the line and displays them to MES users.

A circuit for producing four indications on a bicolor light emitting diode (LED) includes a ring oscillator, with two inputs controlling inverters of opposite phase. By enabling or disabling these inverters, either, both, or neither dies of the LED are energized, causing it to emit light of either of its two primary colors, a secondary color formed by the combination of its two primaries, or no light, respectively. Nonlinear resistances are used to equalize the brightness of the two primaries and set the hue of the secondary.
