This invention discloses formulations of mutually compatible sets of graphene, graphene-carbon, metal and dielectric inks for the fabrication of high performance membrane touch switches (MTS). The compositions of these inks are optimized to achieve higher degree of compatibility with highly engineered polymeric substrates, thereby offering a holistic solution for fabricating high-performance MTS. These sets of materials can also be used for fabrication of sensors, biosensors and RFIDs on flexible substrates, such as polymers and papers.

Graphene enhanced and engineered materials for membrane touch switch and other flexible electronic structures

A method of creating a selectively plated three-dimensional thermoplastic part. The method includes the steps of: a) providing a film of uncured polycarbonate film having a hardcoated layer on a first surface thereof; b) selectively catalyzing the polycarbonate film by depositing a catalyst in a desired pattern on the first surface of the polycarbonate film; c) thermoforming the polycarbonate film to form a three-dimensional polycarbonate film; d) UV-curing the hardcoated polycarbonate film by irradiating the film with UV rays; e) molding the hardcoated polycarbonate film to produce a three-dimensional molded part comprising the hardcoated polycarbonate film; f) activating the selectively catalyzed hardcoated polycarbonate film; and g) plating a metal layer on the catalyzed portions of the hardcoated polycarbonate film, wherein the plated metal only deposits on the catalyzed portions of the hardcoated polycarbonate film.

Selective plating of three dimensional surfaces to produce decorative and functional effects

Textured hardcoat films are disclosed for preferable use in film insert moulding. Texture in the hardcoat film is created through the use of a textured protective overlayer, which can impart texture to the curable coating of the hardcoat film. This process preferably avoids the need to alter the composition of the curable coating to allow for texture and preferably produces a hardcoat film with a matte and reduced-glare finish. An apparatus and a method embodying the invention are disclosed.

Textured hardcoat films

A method of applying a transparent conductive film to a polymeric substrate having a desired textured therein is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a polymeric material having a texture disposed therein and conformally applying a transparent conductive material to the molded polymeric material to produce a conformal transparent conductive film thereon. The conformal transparent conductive film has a texture corresponding to the texture of the polymeric material and has a period that is not larger than the wavelength of visible light, whereby the conformal transparent conductive film is antireflective.

Conductive anti-reflective films

A method of molding a polymeric material to create a desired texture therein using an alumina mold having a plurality of cylindrical pores disposed therein, the method comprising the steps of: a) providing a porous alumina master having a plurality of cylindrical pores dispersed therein, said plurality of cylindrical pores corresponding to projections to be imparted to a surface of a film; disposing a polymeric material between a film and the porous alumina master; and c) applying mechanical pressure to roll the porous alumina master into the polymeric material, wherein the texture imparted to the polymeric molding material comprises projections corresponding to the cylindrical pores of the porous alumina master. A release agent is applied to the porous alumina master prior to disposing the polymeric molding material between the porous alumina master and the film.
