An area light is provided including a housing defining a central axis having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a side portion; a cover mounted on the first end of the housing; a light module disposed on the first end of the housing, the light module comprising a heat sink and at least one light-emitting diode (LED) to emit light through the cover and in a direction that extends 360 degrees around the center axis; and a battery receptacle disposed on the side portion of the housing to receive a removable battery pack and supply electric power form the removable battery pack to the at least one LED. At least one hook is provided on or adjacent the first end of the housing.

A battery powered circular saw includes a rechargeable battery removably attached to the housing and an adjustable shoe pivotally attached to the housing for controlling a depth of cut. A locking mechanism for preventing relative movement between the adjustable shoe and the housing includes a clamp that is located so as to permit the battery pack to be inserted to and removed from a rear end of the housing in a direction that is generally parallel to a plane in which the circular saw blade is disposed.

A metal cutting circular saw is provided with an upper blade guard which includes a first sight window disposed in a first side surface and disposed in a plane angularly offset from a plane of the blade. The upper blade guard also includes a second sight window disposed in the second side surface of the upper blade guard. A light window is disposed in a front portion of the perimeter outer surface of the upper blade guard. The upper blade guard is made from metal and the first and second sight windows and the light window are integrally formed as a one-piece member. The saw shoe and lower blade guard are configured to minimize chip spray from contacting a user.

A lever is disposed adjacent a second sidewall of the housing. A tightening element interconnects the depth of cut strap and the lever. The battery powered circular saw additionally includes a handle extending from the housing. The handle is disposed substantially parallel to a direction of cut and oriented horizontally above the housing. The rechargeable battery pack includes a pair of laterally spaced apart guide rails which cooperate with the pair of longitudinally extending grooves to permit sliding movement of the rechargeable battery pack in a direction parallel to the direction of cut.

A combined on/off and reversing switch, particularly for an electric screwdriver having a reversible motor, has a switch plate which can be rotatably mounted on an end of the motor. Terminals of the motor extend through the switch plate and are selectively contacted by ends of two resiliently flexible contact strips carried by the switch plate. An actuating member is moved along a selected path to rotate the switch plate to select 'forward' and 'reverse', and then depressed inwardly to flex an end of the appropriate contact strip to complete energization of the motor. The contact strips resiliently bias the actuating member outwardly to switch the motor 'off' when the actuating member is released. Switching the motor 'on' from a neutral 'off' position of the switch involves a two part movement of the actuating member. The switch is of simple and compact construction.
