A system () and method () of establishing a rapid push-to-send data exchange in a multi-wireless network environment can include a first wireless network (and) having a fast network channel to exchange an Internet Protocol (IP) address or other data, a second wireless network (and) operatively coupled to the first wireless network having a high bandwidth data channel to exchange data using the IP address in a wireless peer to peer data transfer, and a communication protocol. The first wireless network can be an iDEN network and the second wireless network can be a CDMA network. The communication protocol can relinquish () communication using the first wireless network once a dedicated data channel on the second wireless network is established. The communication protocol can also simultaneously transfer () voice traffic on the first network when the first network is exchanging the IP address.

Rapid push-to-send data exchange method and apparatus

Methods and apparatus are provided for secure communication techniques in a communication system. The system can include a first device which communicates with a second device over a channel. A security association can be established during a first session between the devices via an asymmetric key exchange. The security association comprises a Traffic Encryption Key (TEK) and a first state vector. The TEK comprises a shared, secret symmetric key. The security association is stored in each of the devices for use during a second session between the devices to expedite security association establishment during call set-up of the second session. The security association can be associated with the second device in the first device, and with the first device in the second device. An updated state vector can be generated at the first device. A second session can be established between the first device and the second device by using the TEKs from the first session and the updated state vector. The security association can be used to encrypt voice packets being sent from the first device to the second device. The security association and updated state vector can then be used to decrypt the encrypted voice packets received by the second device from the first device.

Method and apparatus for fast secure session establishment on half-duplex point-to-point voice cellular network channels

Techniques are provided for secure group communications in a wireless dispatch system which includes a group of devices. The group of devices can include a first secure device which communicates with a plurality of second secure devices over a channel.

Method and apparatus for rapid secure session establishment on half-duplex AD-hoc group voice cellular network channels

A mobile communication device () and peer mobile communication devices () are capable of direct voice and data communication. The mobile communication device has a reference oscillator () which is used for generating operating frequencies, and is subject to frequency errors resulting from manufacturing tolerances, heat, and other error sources. The mobile communication device receives a frequency correction message () from a peer mobile communication device that has calibrated its reference oscillator. The frequency correction message contain offset information which is used by the mobile communication device to determine its offset () from a nominal frequency ().

Method and apparatus for providing reference frequency aiding among peers operating in a direct communication mode

An encryption capable communication device () can include a transceiver (and) and a processor () coupled to the transceiver. The processor can be programmed to receive notification of a secure call alert indicative of a desire for secure communications between an alerting device and the encryption capable communication device serving as a recipient device and further cause the recipient device to switch () to a secure mode in response to receipt of the notification. The processor can be further programmed to initiate a key exchange () between the alerting device and the recipient device if needed and automatically respond () to the secure call alert by the recipient device in the secure mode when a user of the recipient device selectively responds to the secure call alert. The processor can also establish a symmetric traffic key during the key exchange using Automatic Public Key exchange techniques.

Method and system for secure call alert

A system () of establishing a rapid PTT call setup in a multi-wireless network environment, can include a first wireless network (and) such as an iDEN network optimized for rapid push-to-talk call setups in typically less than one second and a second wireless network (and) such as a CDMA wireless network operatively coupled to the first wireless network. The system can further include a communication protocol among an originating mobile subscriber unit (), a target mobile subscriber unit (), the first wireless network, and the second wireless network, where the first wireless network and the second wireless network receive a request for a PTT session and the PTT session is set up on the second wireless network using the first wireless network. The system can further include a PTT server () operatively coupled to the first wireless network and the second wireless network.

Method for providing location aiding among peers operating in a direct communication mode

An arbitrary repeating pattern detector (ARPD) detects short cycle patterns having a length of N or less, where N is an integer number. The ARPD obtains data symbols from a random number generator. ARPD may be implemented in a circuit or process which evaluates data symbols b.sub.1 -b.sub.2N. A mismatch detector compares symbols b.sub.I+J-1 with symbols b.sub.N+J for all combinations of I and J, where I and J are integer numbers in the range of 1-N, inclusive. For each value of I, an alternative detector determines whether at least one mismatch occurs at any value of J. If such a mismatch is detected, an alternative indication declares a mismatch at the corresponding value of I. A conjunction detector determines whether alternative indications for all values of I indicate mismatches. If a single match is found, a repeating pattern is declared.

Arbitrary repeating pattern detector

N redundant processors operating in functional lockstep synchronization for maintaining system integrity. Comparison and synchronization logic are connected between N processors in redundant configuration and peripheral devices. The comparison and synchronization logic act to insure that the redundant processors are performing the same read/write operations. Calculation or processing not requiring access to peripherals may take place in an asynchronous manner. Processors are halted from performing further operations until all appropriate read or write operations are synchronized. The processors are then allowed to proceed. An overall watchdog timer provides for detecting an error condition for non-responsive or lead responding processors.
