A prosthetic heart valve system including a prosthetic heart valve and a deflection device. The deflection device includes a line and a connector assembly including a tensioning component. The line interconnects and passes through free ends of stent posts associated with the heart valve, and is further connected to the tensioning component. The tensioning component is transitionable to a tensioning state in which the line is tensioned to inwardly deflect the stent posts. In this regard, the tensioning component is self-locking relative to the line in the tensioning state, and an entirety of the line extending distal the tensioning device does not extend beyond a stent portion of the heart valve opposite the stent posts. In a preferred embodiment, a holder body is further included, coupled to the heart valve apart from the deflection device.

Prosthetic heart valve system

A valve system including an aortic valve and a holder. The holder includes a holder body, which has a central portion, engagable with a holder handle, and downwardly extending leg portions that engage the valve in the areas between the commissure posts. The central portion of the holder further includes a spool located between the commissure posts, rotatable by an attached handle. Rotation of the spool draws in a tensile member passing through the commissure posts, drawing the commissure posts inward toward the spool. The tensile member passes through guides formed in the holder, configured such that they define the maximum available inward deflection of the commissure posts at the point at which the portions of the tensile member between the commissure posts assume straight configurations.

Heart valve system

An implantable prosthetic heart valve with a suturing ring having an interiorly disposed split ring of constant diameter for securing the suturing ring fabric to the heart valve body and providing a constant rotational torque for facilitating rotation of the heart valve body with respect to the suturing ring. The split ring is formed of a stiff band having opposed split ring ends that are drawn together and held in place by fixation cords. The split ring may include flanges extending in the inflow and/or outflow directions to inhibit passage of suture needles through inflow and/or outflow rim bands of the suturing ring fabric to encourage proper surgical installation. The flanges may be extended in the inflow and/or outflow directions sufficiently to increase blood flow velocity past the inflow and/or outflow rim bands and discourage pannus growth over the interface of the respective rim bands and valve body flanges and into the valve body annulus and to provide added safety by forming a barrier against impingement of the occluder by suture tails and heart tissue.

Rotatable suturing ring for prosthetic heart valve

A prosthetic heart valve having a frame comprising a plurality of struts joined together at a common point and extending radially from the common point to free ends spaced from one another and a plurality of preserved tissue valve leaflets, each having a free edge, mounted to said frame means such that said free edges of said leaflets extend between the free ends of said frame struts. Each of the leaflets are provided with an associated strip of aortic tissue and the strips of aortic tissue are joined to one another to enclose the frame struts so that no synthetic materials are exposed to the bloodstream with the exception of suture material used to join the adjacent strips of aortic tissue.

Dynamic annulus heart valve employing preserved porcine valve leaflets

An improved heart valve having an annular valve housing and two leaflets supported for pivotable movement within the annular valve housing. Each leaflet is pivoted about an axis displaced from the center of the valve housing. When open, the leaflets pivot away from the center of the valve housing allowing for central flow. The valve leaflets are provided with curved indentations with engage curved projections from the valve housing which serve both to retain the valve leaflets within the housing and to define and control their pivotal movement during opening and closing.

Prosthetic heart valve

A synthetic leaflet aortic and mitral heart valve for use in replacement of diseased natural heart valves having a flexible, curved framework, a flexible membrane attached to the framework and fixation means for attaching the valve to the tissue annulus. The framework consists of at least three curved flexible valve struts, each joined together at one end to a common central point of the valve and extending in the same direction radially at equal angles so that the free ends are unattached and at a distance from one another. The free ends are provided with sewing pads for artificial attachment of each free end separately to the natural tissue annulus or to an artificial annulus reconstruction ring which itself is sutured to the tissue annulus to restore its symmetry. The membrane is formed of a thin, common flexible synthetic material which is hemispherically shaped to fit over, and be attached to the framework to provide at least three partial hemispheric segments extending between adjacent frame struts in such a manner that the free edge of each segment can contact the tissue annulus when the valve is closed. Upon forward flow of the blood, the valve segments collapse inward against one another and allow blood to pass between the tissue annulus and the collapsed membrane segments.
